The inventive slide bearing pipe support system can accommodate thermal expansion and/or contraction of the pipe under high magnitude thermal loads while resisting movement of the pipe under low magnitude vibratory loads. The frictional force required to resist vibratory movement but to permit thermal movement is dependent upon the torque load provided by bolts connecting upper, lower and central slide bearing plates. The torque on these bolts is specified to generate a specific frictional force between the contact layers of the slide bearing plates, which can resist vibration of the piping under a vibratory load but permit lateral/transverse movement of the pipe under a thermal load. The inventive support system is useful for a variety of vibrational and thermal loads, and with a variety of industrial pipe sizes.

    Abstract: A conduit attachment device is disclosed for use with a trapeze for providing for the placement and suspension of apparatus between existing structural members of an overhead structure. In one embodiment, the conduit attachment device includes a body having four sides formed of a continuous sheet with three bends in an open-ended rectangular box design. A fastening join joins two sides of the continuous sheet. A window including first and second substantially continuous U-shaped engagement surfaces adapted to form a friction fit with a conduit is located at one of the ends. Two sizes of threaded openings are located on opposite sides of the body for mating with two different sizes of threaded suspension rod. Another threaded opening is located in the body for mating with a set screw that further secures the conduit.

Each legged clamp plates, alternate legged clamp plates, and legged fixture plates is adapted to ride horizontally along top of spanning angles or channels. The load bearing capacity of the angles or channels is increased by bracing these members against each other at clamp assembly and fixture hanging assembly locations.

A sway brace is attached to the laterally extending flange using a plate clamp with fixed and opposed screw jaws to grip the flange. A pipe clamp having a circumferential body which can tighten to retain a pipe is arranged so that the axis of the pipe extends beneath the depending flange of the beam element. A link, pivotally mounted at each end, extends between an upper portion of the plate clamp and the pipe clamp. The plate clamp is locked in place, the pipe is moved to the proximity of the depending flange and the pipe clamp is locked as far from the plate clamp as possible.
