Patent number: 4703785Abstract: A tank fill assist for filling a tank or other equivalent volume from a remote source of liquid, for example filling a consumer product from a sink or bathroom faucet with fresh water. The fill assist is normally stowed within the interior of the tank. It is withdrawn for connection to a faucet for tank filling, and is then returned to stowed position after tank filling. The fill assist comprises standard flexible conduit with unique inlet and outlet fittings at opposite ends. The outlet fitting is disposed within the interior of the tank and is constructed and arranged to prevent accidental separation of the fill assist from the tank when the conduit is withdrawn from the tank yet to allow passage through the fill opening when it is intended to either join or separate the fill assist to or from the tank. The inlet fitting is of thermoplastic rubber and can be fitted over the outlets of typical sink and bathroom faucets.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1986Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Thetford CorporationInventors: John M. Patent number: 4318519Abstract: A hose guide member constructed as a unitary wireform is specifically adapted to connect an anti-kink corrugated plastic hose of an appliance such as an automatic washer to a vertical support in either a stand pipe installation or a laundry tub installation. The guide includes a single length of wire formed with a pair of open-ended hose attachment clamps at either end of a reversely bent section which is formed in the radius of the drain hose. Each attachment clamp is formed with a double turn of substantially parallel reversely bent loops with spacing matched to the pitch of the hose corrugations. The corrugations of the drain hose when placed into the clamps matingly engage the double turn loops, thereby fastening the hose to the guide in a shape conforming to the reversely bent section. Support engagement fingers extend from both attachment clamps and extend inwardly of the formed radius to cross each other.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1979Date of Patent: March 9, 1982Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Theodore J. Patent number: 4196747Abstract: Invalids have difficulty sipping water from pitchers and glasses through ordinary straws because of the effort required to lift water through a straw or tube and the fact that upon cessation of sucking the water in the tube runs back into the pitcher or glass. A flap-type check valve is placed in the lower end of the tube. Little effort is required to open the valve. The weight of the water maintains it closed.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1978Date of Patent: April 8, 1980Inventors: Patrick C. Quigley, Timothy C. Quigley

Patent number: 4151864Abstract: An adapter for connecting a corrugated hose, e.g., a washing machine drain hose, to a standpipe has an elongated tube with a bell at one end for holding and retaining the corrugated hose. A curved support extends from the bell end of the tube and selectively supports the hose in a desired curve of from 0.degree. to 180.degree.. A sliding annular retainer ring slides on the curved support and selectively locks the corrugated hose in the chosen position. Outwardly extending ears on the end of the curved support hold the retainer ring on the adapter. The tube has longitudinal ribs over at least a portion of its length. The ribs provide additional strength and tapered portions on the ribs prevent the tube from jamming in a standpipe and provide for easy release. The ribs have enough friction to retain the tube in the standpipe in cooperation with the weight of the assembly and the water therein to prevent the hose from being forced from the standpipe by the jet effect of water moving therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1977Date of Patent: May 1, 1979Assignee: Arundale, Inc.Inventor: Erven W.
