  • Patent number: 5042759
Abstract: A stand or platform is disclosed herein having a barrel or dish supporting base with four legs elevating the barrel or dish from the ground. A pan or individual containers insertably receive the legs of the base and are positioned in spaced-apart relationship with respect to the opposing inner wall surfaces of the pan or containers. A fluid medium is carried in the pan or containers providing a moat preventing the travel of insects and pests from crawling between the pan or container and the base legs. Soapsuds, poison or other inhibitors may be mixed with the fluid medium and an adhesive strip may be used to release the barrel or dish onto the base.

  • Patent number: 5040754
Abstract: A refuse collector comprises a wheeled frame at one end of which is a hoop which supports a pliable cylindrical sleeve that is open at both of its ends. The hoop also is adapted to support a trash bag open at one end, the trash bag being accommodated within the sleeve. The handle is coupled to the hoop and is pivotable between a first position in which it extends in prolongation of the hoop and a second position in which it generally parallels the frame. In the first position the handle enables the user to move the frame along the ground with the open end of the trash bag in condition to receive litter and in the second position of the handle it provides a support for the frame in such manner as to maintain the trash bag and its contents in an upright position.

  • Patent number: 4905945
Abstract: A unitary, molded, concrete stabilizing base for refuse cans and the like, and method and apparatus for its manufacture are described. The base takes the form of a concrete annulus having a right-triangular cross section and an inner diameter dimensioned freely to receive a frusto-conical refuse can having a base diameter within a range of predetermined diameters. The inner cylindrical surface and the outer frusto-conical surface of the toroid smoothly are joined in a substantially rounded way. In use, and in the presence of lateral forces incident upon the installed refuse can, e.g. crosswinds, the base and the can cooperate by the impingement of their inner and outer surfaces to resist the tendency of the refuse can to tip and spill its contents. In a modification, the effective height of the base is increased by stacking the base atop a concrete annular platform of substantially equal diameters, thereby increasing further the range of refuse can base diameters that securely can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 4854497
Abstract: A trash collection unit for mounting within a fence or the like which may surround a residence includes a receptacle having an elongated housing having two opposite ends and front and rear doors connected to the housing for closing the ends thereof. The rear door provides access to the interior of the receptacle for placement of trash therein, and the front door provides access to the receptacle interior for removal of trash therefrom. The unit further includes one tension member permitting the front and rear doors to be simultaneously locked in their closed positions at the rear of the unit, and another tension member permits the rear door, by itself, to be locked in its closed position. The unit protects trash placed therein from rifling and/or pilferage, and when mounted in a fence, the unit obviates any need for an individual to walk outside of the fence for rendering his trash accessible to a garbage collector.
