Resilient Latch And Manipulator Patents (Class 251/108)
  • Patent number: 8276662
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to the filtering and collection of downhole fluids. An example system to filter and sample downhole fluids includes a first sampling chamber that includes one or more cone-shaped filters to receive downhole fluid, filter the downhole fluid, and store the downhole fluid, a second sampling chamber, a spool valve to allow the downhole fluid to flow into the first sampling chamber in a first position and to redirect the downhole fluid to the second sampling chamber or a base block in a second position, and a setting line to selectively move the spool valve from the first position to the second position.

  • Patent number: 6592097
Abstract: A motor providing safety actuation including a spring which, during the power outage, is designed to close a valve by moving a valve cone towards a valve opening. For installation or transportation of such valves with motors, it is desirable to lock the valve actuation rod. A device is described for securing a resilient locking element to the valve cone which is mounted on a valve actuating rod. In the desired installation position, the locking element is in a force-transmitting engagement with a guide mechanism of the actuating rod so as to lock the actuating rod in a position or, alternatively, engages in a formfitting manner with a recess of the guide mechanism of the actuating rod. To secure the actuating rod in position in a force-transmitting or formfitting manner, the motor is powered until the valve actuating rod is sufficiently retracted. Subsequently, a mechanical connection is established between the resilient locking element and the guide mechanism of the actuating rod.

  • Patent number: 6457698
Abstract: A bypass valve for directing fluid flow, where the bypass valve includes a valve body with a notch in at least one end thereof and a spool seated within the valve body. The spool is rotatable within the valve body. One preferred embodiment of the present invention also includes at least one endcap attached to an axial end portion of the spool, where the endcap includes a protrusion extending thereon for preventing relative rotation between the spool and the valve body when the protrusion is positioned within the notch. A further aspect of the present invention relates to a bypass valve with a valve body including a plurality of ports and a generally cylindrical inner periphery, as well as a spool seated within the valve body, where the spool is rotatable and axially translatable within the valve body.

  • Patent number: 6116278
Abstract: A lockout valve comprises a body with an inlet passage and an outlet passage which define a longitudinally-extending flow path through the body. A flow interrupter device, or slide, is mounted for transverse movement within the body. The slide can be located in a closed position, whereby fluid is prevented from flowing from the inlet passage to the outlet passage, but fluid downstream of the lockout valve is allowed to vent to atmosphere; to an intermediate bleed position, whereby restricted fluid flow is allowed from the inlet passage to the outlet passage through a bleed aperture; and to a fully open position whereby fluid is allowed to flow substantially unimpeded through a flow aperture from the inlet passage to the outlet passage. A latch normally prevents the slide from moving from the bleed position to the open position while fluid pressure rises across the lockout valve. The latch can be manually manipulated to allow the slide to be moved to the open position.

  • Patent number: 5002482
Abstract: A child resistant lighter device is disclosed which includes a body defining reservoir for containing a combustible gaseous medium such as butane, and having a valve arranged to be selectively actuated between a normally closed position and an open position which permits the exit of the gaseous medium. Such child resistant lighter can selectively produce sparks at a location proximate to the gaseous medium exit to ignite the gaseous medium, and a safety mechanism prevents actuation of the valve to the open position when sparks are produced. Such child resistant lighter device embodies a resiliently releasable safety latch which prevents the actuation of the valve actuator to the open position. The safety latch is selectively movable to a position out of interference with the valve actuator, so that the gaseous medium may be released and ignited by the sparks.

  • Patent number: 4783885
Abstract: A faucet handle comprises an upper portion having a top and downwardly depending skirt. A lower portion has an outer peripheral wall, an inward member, and a central sleeve for connection to handle hardware. The upper portion defines an aperture in the skirt, with the lower portion defining an outwardly biased, inwardly deflectable retention member having a part which snugly fits within the aperture. This causes the upper and lower portions to be retained in lock-together relation. The retention member is inwardly deflectable by pushing for a distance that permits unlocking and separation of the upper and lower portions.

  • Patent number: 4022235
Abstract: A liquid dispensing nozzle of the automatic shut-off type has the trigger, which holds the valve actuating means in an open position, or its retaining means formed to flex when subjected to a force beyond that exerted by the valve actuating means when it is in any set flow position so that the trigger is automatically released from its retaining means if the nozzle should be accidentally removed from the fill pipe, for example.
