Abstract: A solenoid valve for controlling a fuel injector of an internal combustion engine having an electromagnet, a movable armature having an armature plate and an armature pin, and a control valve element which is moved with the armature and works together with a valve seat, for opening and closing a fuel drain channel of a control pressure chamber of the fuel injector, is provided. The armature plate is mounted on the armature pin so that it is movable by sliding under the effect of its inertial mass in the closing direction of the control valve element against the tension of a return spring acting on the armature plate. In order to be able to easily set the maximum slide path of the armature plate, an actuator is provided on the armature plate which is arranged on a section of the armature plate facing away from the electromagnet and is adjustable in the sliding direction of the armature plate relative to a face of the armature plate facing the electromagnet.

The drive piece is connected to the valve spindle, by a storage device, which may be pre-tensioned to a particular pre-tensioned value during a pretension process, in such a manner that, with a pre-tensioned storage device the opening position can be set without altering the value of the pre-tensioning. The actuator is particularly suitable for a valve on a steam turbine or a gas turbine. As an example, the actuator may be a hydraulic damping unit, integrated in a damping piston. The damping unit permits a reliable end-travel damping for the valve, in particular in the case of rapid closure.

A valve hole of a pilot valve, a hole of a bearing for supporting one end of a shaft of a solenoid, and a fitting hole in which is fitted one end of a sleeve, are formed along the same axis in a body. This makes it possible to accurately establish the concentricity of movable components of the solenoid when the sleeve is fitted in the fitting hole, and hence, a pilot valve element can be integrally formed with the shaft. Set values for a main valve and the pilot valve are adjusted by adjusting the amounts of insertions of a press-fit member and a bearing by press-fitting.

Mentioned in particular, here is a combined control and regulating module that is electronically driven and mechanically regulates the pressure. The controlled variable is a coil current that increases proportionally as the pressure increases. One disadvantage is that, in the case of a system failure, no coil current flows and the pressure is also minimal. In the present invention, by contrast, a maximum pressure is provided in the hydraulics even without current. This ensures that during a system failure that the operation of control elements that can only be shifted using high pressure will continue. This is implemented via a combined control and regulating module. The control unit is a magnet system that moves the regulating module and a sliding valve (14).

Abstract: A fuel injector comprises a body having a longitudinal axis, a length-changin solid state actuator that has first and second ends, a closure member coupled to the first end of the solid state actuator, and a compensator assembly coupled the second end of the solid state actuator. The solid state actuator includes a plurality of solid state elements along the axis between the first and second ends. The closure member is movable between a first configuration permitting fuel injection and a second configuration preventing fuel injection. And the compensator assembly axially positions the solid state actuator with respect to the body in response to temperature variation. The compensator assembly utilizes a configuration of at least one spring disposed between two pistons so as to reduce the use of elastomer seals to thereby reduce a slip stick effect.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a device for applying fluid material on a substrate, with a supply canal for supplying material from a source of material, a main body with an outlet canal which communicates with the supply canal and ends in an outlet opening for delivering the material. A valve assembly located in the main body interrupts the flow of material in the outlet canal, which has a valve seat and a valve body which can move relative to the valve seat, as well as a tensioning device which pre-tensions the valve body in a closed or open position. A drive unit moves the valve body between a closed position which interrupts the flow of material and an open position which releases the flow of material. The supply canal is connected to the outlet canal in a lower part of the main body which is preferably close to the outlet opening, and the tensioning device for pre-tensioning the valve body is located in the lower area of the main body.

  • Patent number: 6305583
Abstract: A valve for dispensing a viscous fluid, includes a valve body defining a fluid chamber and a stepped armature within the fluid chamber. The armature has a large diameter portion maintained spaced apart from an inner surface of the valve body, defining a first air gap therebetween, and a second, smaller diameter portion which engages an inner surface of the valve body, supporting the armature within the valve body and defining a second lower reluctance air gap. A solenoid coil energized by a peak and hold drive current produces an electromagnetic field for moving the armature relative to the magnetic pole piece and the valve body. The second portion of the armature becomes magnetically saturated during the peak portion of the drive current, causing magnetic flux to be diverted through the first portion of the armature.

Abstract: A proportional variable bleed solenoid valve that includes magnetic force adjustments to provide magnetic calibration. The control valve includes a housing defining a chamber, where an electromagnetic coil is wound on a bobbin and is coaxially mounted within the housing. A movable armature is coaxially positioned within the bobbin in the chamber and has an armature poppet valve extending form a bottom end of the armature. An armature spring is in contact with an upper end of the armature and a top wall of the bobbin, where the spring positions the armature in an initial position when the coil is not energized and where the armature moves to a second position in conjunction with the bias of the armature spring when the coil is energized. A pole piece is mounted to the housing and is positioned adjacent to the lower end of the armature to define an air gap between the pole piece and the armature.

A first magnetic pole piece is oriented adjacent a first axial end face of the annular coil and a second magnetic pole piece oriented adjacent a second end face of said annular coil. An armature is movably mounted in the central hole. Two substantially linear springs are provided for securing the armature to the housing to effect a frictionless resilient suspension of the armature in the central hole. A closed chamber is filled with a liquid so that a disk movable with the armature is also movable in the chamber. A perimeter of the disk is oriented in close relation to an interior wall surface of the chamber to define a liquid flow restricting gap therebetween and effecting during operation a dynamic dampening of armature movement.

  • Patent number: 6224033
Abstract: A proportional solenoid-driven valve control assembly contains a moveable, magnetic armature positioned adjacent to one end of a fixed pole piece that protrudes from a solenoid bore and is supported by means of a pair of flat suspension springs adjacent to the one end of the bore. The movable armature is configured to provide two generally cylindrical radial magnetic flux paths. One flux path traverses a radial gap at one end of fixed magnetic pole piece that protrudes from the one end of the solenoid bore. The other flux path traverses a generally cylindrical gap between a rim portion of the armature and an inwardly projecting magnetic element of the solenoid housing. The two radially separate cylindrical gaps function as coaxial guide air-bushings for the moveable magnetic armature that prevent off-axis play between the moveable armature and the pole piece and the inwardly projecting magnetic element.

Abstract: A fluid control valve, which can control a fluid having a pressure in the order of 10 kg/cm2, has a response time in the order of several milliseconds can be made small in size, and a fluid supply/exhaust system that provides less gas counter flow in the event of a plurality of valves being used. A fluid control valve of the invention controls a fluid moving in a valve body by closing and opening a portion between a valve seat and a valve holder by use of a drive unit. The drive unit has a rod-shaped shaft for application of pressure through the valve seat and the valve holder, and a member “a” fixed around the rod-shaped shaft.
