Mutilated Or Geneva Gearing Patents (Class 251/249)
  • Patent number: 8869835
Abstract: A dual valve construction partners first and second valve portions with a mechanical linkage such as gears to operably couple the control stems together. The gears need not be identical and in fact a first gear may have flats so that motion of the first gear need not always move the second gear proportionally. Furthermore, the gears may have differing gear ratios at different portion of the gears.

  • Patent number: 8082947
Abstract: A separable ball valve apparatus and ball valve assembly capable of selectively opening/closing a separable flow path are provided. The separable ball valve apparatus comprises a separable pipe member having a flow path through which fluid flows, a ball member having at least two balls disposed in the pipe member, opening and closing the flow path, and adjacent to each other, and an opening/closing member configured to control the ball member to open/close the flow path, wherein the balls have through-holes, respectively, and the opening/closing member includes a gear train configured to control the opening/closing of the at least two balls. Therefore, it is possible to simply open/close pipes having the flow path and detachably attach the pipes, increase space utilization due to removal of a separate coupling space for attachment/detachment of the pipes, and simultaneously open/close the two pipes, which are separated from each other through one operation.

  • Patent number: 8002755
Abstract: A medical valve has an open mode that permits fluid flow, and a closed mode that prevents fluid flow. The valve has a housing having an inlet and an outlet, and a valving mechanism within the housing to alternatively fluidly connect the inlet and the outlet. The valve is in the open mode when the inlet and outlet fluidly connect. Insertion of a medical implement into the inlet produces a positive fluid displacement at the outlet. In addition, withdrawal of the medical implement as the valve transitions from the open mode to the closed mode produces a substantially neutral fluid displacement at the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20020066878
Abstract: A water flow timer comprising a main body, a water stopping membrane, a control rod, a bottom cover, a control member, a rotating member, a timing member, and a rotary cap, the timer is mechanically operated in such a way that the rotary cap is turned to actuate the control member to force the control rod to slide, thereby resulting in a gap between the water stopping membrane and a bottom opening of an inner chamber of the main body. The inner and the outer chamber of the main body are thus in communication with each other. As the rotary cap is turned, the torsion spring of the timing member is compressed to provide the rotary cap with a recovery force. The recovery of the rotary cap is delayed by an intermittent gear, so as to control the timing of the water flow.

  • Patent number: 5950765
Abstract: A two stage motorized servo-actuator having a worm driven high reduction gear train providing a rotary output. The motor shaft has a worm and co-axially therewith, a beveled pinion. The motor worm is continuously engaged with a first stage gear. The first stage gear has an input sector gear disposed co-axially and rotatable therewith. The input sector gear intermittently engages an output gear. The output gear has a beveled output sector gear disposed co-axially and rotatably therewith. Upon disengagement of the input sector gear with the output gear, the beveled pinion engages the beveled output sector gear to drive the output gear directly. Once the input sector gear is disengaged from the output gear, a return spring on the output gear can reverse drive the motor through the beveled pinion to return the output gear to a desired position in the event of motor failure in operation.

  • Patent number: 5809780
Abstract: A hydraulic control valve has a two position body shifted by rotation. The shaft of the valve body carries a drive wheel segment extending through an arc that corresponds to the shift angle of the valve. • Patent number: 5244013
Abstract: A water conditioner rotary valve for use in a water conditioning system includes a valve body constructed of an upper section, a lower section and a middle section, to facilitate ease in assembly of the body. The valve rotor member of the conditioner valve is driven by a Geneva drive system, to provide accurate positioning of the rotor member in its various positions. A valve seat member is located adjacent the rotor member, and provides a construction which improves the seal between the rotor member and the surface of the valve body adjacent thereto. The three-piece assembly of the valve body facilitates providing a valve capable of either upflow or downflow brining by replacing the lower valve section. A brine injector valve is mounted exteriorly of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4989641
Abstract: A multi-port valve internally supports a rotatable trunnion having an elbow passage between a nozzle portion of the trunnion and a lower end outlet that communicates with a test port of the valve body. The outer end of the nozzle has an axially reciprocable hollow seal piston with a seal support ring whose outer face is formed with an endless groove to receive an O-ring. An actuating shaft is coaxially mounted in an upper end of the trunnion and has a lower end with an eccentric pin engaged in a slot of the seal piston to reciprocate the seal piston into and out of sealing registration around a port selected by rotation of the trunnion. External ends of the actuating shaft and trunnion are respectively drivably coupled to a coaxial sprocket wheel and geneva wheel. A housing on top of the valve contains an input rotor fitted with a cam and a drive roller for engaging radial slots of the geneva wheel alternately with cam engagement of the dwell notches of the geneva wheel.

  • Patent number: 4144774
Abstract: An actuator assembly particularly useful for operating butterfly, ball or plug type valves is disclosed herein and comprises a relatively efficient gear train including first means for coupling the gear train to a drive member and a pinion in driving engagement with a sector gear of limited circumferential extent formed on a periphery, preferably an inner periphery, of a generally triangular sector member. At the vertex of the sector member opposite the sector gear there is provided a rotatably mounted drive member for driving the stem of an associated valve member as it rotates. Accordingly, as the sector gear is driven, the drive member rotates the valve stem to open or close the valve. The input gear train includes a non-reversing coupling means adjacent the first coupling means whereby the drive member can rotate the sector member and, thus, the valve stem, but external forces on the output side of the non-reversing coupling means cannot cause rotation of the valve stem.
