  • Patent number: 5361804
Abstract: A valve assembly for a faucet is operated by an actuation lever(s) normally positioned to be engaged by a container, for example, into which water is to be discharged from the faucet. For normal operation the lever(s) is moved in a self-return range of about 10 to 50 degrees. The lever(s) can also be swung further to a fully-on position so that the faucet can function in the normal manner by its valve system. The lever(s) operate a cam which acts on a cam follower presented by a valve stem. Responsive axial movement of the valve stem in opposition to spring pressure opens a valve.

  • Patent number: 4967997
Abstract: A butterfly valve (30) is described in which the plate member (32) is in facing relationship with a hollow shaft (34) and is moved by pistons (50, 52) disposed in the shaft. The pistons (50, 52) are mechanically coupled to the plate member (32) by cam followers (58, 60) which ride along cams (40, 42, 46, 48) formed in the shaft (34) and plate member. The plate member (32) is capable of both revolutionary and translation movement relative to the longitudinal axis of the shaft (34) toward the end of minimizing the externally supplied energy required to operate the valve (30). The pistons (50, 52) collectively have a center of mass that coincides with the center of the duct (68) toward the end of minimizing vibrational effects.

  • Patent number: 4650159
Abstract: A flow control device for controlling the flow rate of fluid utilizes a stepping motor. A translating mechanism translates the rotation of the stepping motor into a rectilinear movement which causes a valve to move in either forward or backward direction, thereby controlling a clearance formed between the valve and its associated valve seat. A channel area is controlled in this manner, and a flow control over an extensive range from a minimal to maximal flow is achieved with a high accuracy and improved response.

  • Patent number: 4643391
Abstract: A fuel control valve construction, parts therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the construction having a housing provided with an inlet adapted to be interconnected to a fuel source and an outlet adapted to be interconnected to a burner. The housing has a main pressure regulator and a main valve operated by the main pressure regulator for controlling fuel flow from the inlet to the outlet to provide a full rated flow of fuel to the burner. The housing has a by-pass for interconnecting the inlet to the outlet to provide a fuel flow to the burner that is less than a full rated flow of fuel but is sufficient by itself to support combustion at the burner until the main valve provides the full rated flow of fuel thereto. The housing has a by-pass pressure regulator for controlling the flow of fuel through the by-pass independently of the operation of the main pressure regulator.

  • Patent number: 4605200
Abstract: A faucet valve comprised of a valve body having a valve seat onto which is adapted to movably and freely rest a disc-shaped valve plug. An operant shaft having a central cam surface is journalled within the valve body, being arranged with the cam surface lying adjacent to the valve plug so that rotating or sliding the shaft causes the plug to tip off the valve seat. The plug is held in closed position solely by upstream pressure. A novel check valve is also disclosed for replacement of the standard washer in a faucet and for use with a "speedway" connection according to another embodiment. The faucet valve is adapted to be fixed to the spout of a tap assembly having hot and cold water, in combination with the check valve, the latter preventing backflow between the two faucet conduits in the event of a pressure differential. The faucet valve may be used independently as may the check valves.
