  • Patent number: 4749005
Abstract: A gas stove (A) includes a combined pressure regulator and manual shut off valve (C) which has an inlet (46) connected with a source (B) of natural gas. The combined valve includes a pressure regulator (60) in fluid communication with the inlet through a regulating valve assembly (64, 66). The regulating valve assembly which controls the flow of gas to a regulator chamber (62) is controlled by a diaphragm (68) and a spring (70) to maintain the pressure in the chamber substantially constant. A first outlet (48) is connected by a passage (72) directly with the regulator chamber for supplying pressure regulated gas to a plurality of range burner control valves (20) and range burners (22). A poppet valve (80) having only two stable states, fully open and fully closed, is connected between the regulator chamber and a second outlet (50). A manually graspable lever (52) and a cam member (86) enable the state of the poppet valve to be controlled.

  • Patent number: 4728077
Abstract: A drainage valve unit for use with a casing for collecting a drain includes a valve body adapated to be mounted on the casing and having a fluid passage and a chamber defined therein and communicating with each other, a valve member disposed in the fluid passage and movable axially of the fluid passage for opening and closing the fluid passage, and a pusher body disposed in the chamber and movable axially of the chamber, the pusher body being displaceable from outside of the valve body for causing the valve body to open the fluid passage to discharge the drain from the casing through the fluid passage. • Patent number: 4700735
Abstract: A bonnet is mounted on an insert support and connected to a valve body to retain a diaphragm in fluid sealing relationship between the body and insert support. The insert support is rotatable relative to the housing of a fluid actuator while being retained in a fixed axial position relative to the housing. A plunger is extended through the insert support to abut against a button that abuts against one side of the diaphragm, the opposite side of which abuts against a valve seat subassembly that is resiliently urged to a valve open condition. The housing mounts a spindle which in turn has an eccentric lobe keyed thereto for moving the plunger toward the diaphragm so that the button flexes the diaphragm to move the seat subassembly to its valve closed position. Piston operated rack mechanism controls the rotation of the lobe for moving the plunger toward the diaphragm. Spring mechanism moves the piston in one direction while fluid under pressure applied to the actuator moves the piston in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4667931
Abstract: A cam-actuated valve is provided which includes a valve chamber having a poppet valve therein. A diaphragm separates the exterior of the valve body from fluid contained within the valve chamber. An actuator sleeve is positioned on the body for rotational and longitudinal motion. The vlave sleeve is spring-biased into a closed or "off" position by moving the actuator sleeve against the biased spring and rotating the spring about thirty degrees. The valve is moved to the "open" position. A cam forces a ball to move in a radial direction so as to open the poppet of the valve and thereby allow fluid to flow from an inlet to an outlet through the valve assembly. Locking means are provided whereby the valve is locked in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4136655
Abstract: Metering valves in diesel engine fuel injection systems are disclosed. The systems each include a high pressure fuel pump, a fuel distributor, at least one metering valve, and fuel injector nozzles. In the preferred embodiment, the valves are of a type having a spool or valving member which moves axially in a bore from a second position to a first position and while so moving an annular groove, defined in the circumferential surface of the spool, traverses a valve outlet passage at velocities independent of engine speed for metering fuel to the engine during the traversing time. The spool may be moved from the second position to the first position by a spring or a solenoid and in the reverse direction by a stepped cam, a spring, or a solenoid. The distributor blocks fuel metering to the engine during reverse movement of the spool.

  • Patent number: 4132205
Abstract: Disclosed is a metering valve for a diesel engine fuel injection system. Two injection systems are shown which embody the valve. The valve includes a spool which is moved in one direction by a stepped cam and is moved in the other direction by a spring. The cam moves the spool at a velocity proportional to engine speed. The spring moves the spool at a velocity proportional to the spring force and independent of engine speed. A mechanical fuel distributor prevents fuel metering by the spool when the cam is moving the spool and allows fuel metering when the spring is moving the spool.

  • Patent number: 4112974
Abstract: A reversing valve for use in air conditioning systems and the like for controlling the flow of fluid between a plurality of ports, the valve including a valve body with a chamber communicating with each of the ports, and a valve member mounted in the chamber for movement between two positions to control the flow. Means for moving the valve member are located to one side and generally centrally of the valve member, and include a reciprocable operating plunger engaging a grooved ramp in the valve member which forms a cam. A spring is provided at one end of the valve member to urge the valve member to one position as the plunger is retracted.

  • Patent number: 4082115
Abstract: A valve operator for steam turbine inlet control valves, each of the control valves being set by a corresponding valve cam. The operator comprises pilot operated hydraulic means for positioning the valve cams in a normal or power mode of operation, mechanical means for positioning the valve cams in a back-up or manual mode of operation and manual actuation means for actuating the hydraulic means in a normal mode of operation and, in the event of failure of the hydraulic means, for automatically actuating the mechanical means in a back-up mode of operation. The hydraulic actuator positions the valve cams through a rack and pinion assembly. Both the hydraulic means and the mechanical means are actuated from an input shaft driving a reduction gear box. The mechanical means comprises a dog connected to the output of the gear box and a pin on the cam shaft driven by the dog in the manual mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 4064845
Abstract: A valve assembly for a pilot fuel injection system, which system also includes a transfer pump, a high pressure fuel pump, and a fuel injection nozzle. The valve assembly includes a blocking valve and a metering valve in an unitary housing having a high pressure fuel inlet, a metered fuel outlet, and a fuel return outlet. The blocking valve includes a cam ring operating a spool type valving member which opens and closes the high pressure inlet to the metering valve in a timed phase relation with an engine. The metering valve includes a cam ring, a spool type valving member, a spring, and a dump means. The cam ring has a single lobe which smoothly increases on one side and abruptly decreases in two steps on the other side; the smooth side slides the spool in one direction at velocities proportional to engine speed while the inlet is closed by the blocking valve; and the spring moves the spool along a two stepped path at velocities independent of engine speed while the inlet is open.

Abstract: A blood pressure measuring device with a quick-evacuation air valve, where the cone-shaped valve plunger has a bypass channel reaching from the pressureless side to a point on the sealing surface of the plunger which, at the maximum normal opening stroke of the latter remains within the throttling range of the valve, but which after an additional opening motion against an abruptly higher spring bias, is opened to the pressure side, thereby rapidly evacuating the device. A detent serves to hold the actuating lever of the valve in its quick-evacuation position.

  • Patent number: 3942757
Abstract: A spring biased poppet valve has the exposed end of its poppet plunger engaging the underside of a lever, and the poppet and lever are biased upwardly so that a tit on the upperside of the lever engages a cam surface defined on a cam member loosely mounted on a generally horizontal rock shaft. The shaft can be moved through an angular range of displacements as part of a normal control system, which system receives fluid operating pressure through the open poppet valve. An adjustable stop screw mounted to the shaft is so oriented that the cam member is positively moved about the axis of the shaft when the shaft has reached a predetermined angular displacement, whereby further movement of the shaft permits the spring loaded poppet valve to close.
