  • Patent number: 11773995
Abstract: A relief valve device having a valve disc positioned above a nozzle, a disc holder surrounding an outer periphery of the valve disc, and a spring surrounding a valve stem. A bottom section of the nozzle is connected to a valve body and a top section of the nozzle is connected to the valve disc. An interior surface of the nozzle contains at least one groove having a circular cross-sectional profile. The relief valve device prevents flow through the nozzle when a pressure at an inlet of the nozzle is below a predetermined force of the spring. When the pressure exceeds the predetermined force of the spring the valve stem is moved linearly through the longitudinal axis of the spring to displace the valve disc from sitting atop the nozzle and permit flow through the nozzle.

For example, a tunable valve assembly or tunable radial array selectively attenuates valve-generated vibration at its source, thus reducing the likelihood of fluid end failures associated with fatigue cracking and/or corrosion fatigue. Adding tunable valve seats and/or tunable plunger seals to a fluid end facilitates optimal damping and/or selective attenuation of vibration at one or more predetermined (and frequently localized) fluid end resonant frequencies. Abstract: Tunable fluid end embodiments comprise a family, each family member comprising a pump housing with at least one installed tunable component chosen from: tunable valve assemblies, tunable valve seats, tunable radial arrays and/or tunable plunger seals. Thus, the likelihood of exciting destructive resonances in a pump's fluid end housing is further reduced.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a sealing system particularly for industrial safety valves, even more particularly for industrial gate valves. Hence, the subject of the present invention is both a sealing system (1) suited to be used on a gate valve and a gate valve comprising such a sealing system (1). The system according to the present invention allows to combine the advantages in terms of simplicity and cost-effectiveness for manufacturing gate valves provided with a traditional sealing system, with further advantages in terms of performance both at high and at low operating pressures and reducing the torques required to handle the slab, also ensuring the operation of the valve itself with unaltered sealing performance over time, even under particular and demanding operating conditions.

Abstract: A universal control valve may use two different seat ring types including a threaded seat ring or a clamped seat ring. The valve includes a valve body, a cage mounting space enclosed by a bonnet and sized to receive two different valve cage types, and a seat ring mounting location including, an annular shoulder, a radiused projection, and a threaded portion. The threaded portion receives a threaded seat ring and the radiused projection forms a seal, while the shoulder supports a mounting flange of a clamped seat ring and forms a seal. Accordingly, the seat ring mounting location can receive a selected one of the two different seat ring types.

Abstract: A gate valve apparatus is disclosed. The gate valve apparatus is provided with a valve casing that includes a first valve seat and a second valve seat, and in which an opening portion is formed; and a closure element that includes a sealing member that contacts the first valve seat to seal the opening portion. In addition, the gate valve apparatus is provided with a shutoff member that contacts the second valve seat to thereby be deformed, so that a space between the opening portion and a sealing member is shut off by the shutoff member when the closure element closes the opening portion. The shutoff member is deformed and continues to contact the second valve seat under normal and high temperature environments when the closure element closes the opening portion.

Abstract: Apparatus for controlling a pressurized fluid. In accordance with some embodiments, a valve assembly includes a piston moved between closed and open positions. A sealing member is disposed within an annular recess of the piston and characterized as an endless annular ring extending about a central axis of the piston. The sealing member has an elongated circle cross-sectional shape when the sealing member is in an uncompressed state prior to installation in said recess. The cross-sectional shape is defined by parallel top and bottom surfaces having a length L in a direction perpendicular to and intersecting the central axis, and having opposing inner and outer surfaces of a radius R, the inner and outer surfaces respectively facing toward and facing away from the central axis, and wherein the dimensional value of L is at least five times greater than the dimensional value of R.

  • Patent number: 8496224
Abstract: A tunable valve assembly attenuates valve-generated vibration at one or more predetermined assembly resonant frequencies. The assembly comprises a valve body having a peripheral groove spaced radially apart from a central reservoir. An adjustable preload flange is centrally coupled to the valve body for changing assembly compliance and for imposing a shear preload by partially constraining a viscoelastic element in the reservoir. Assembly resonant frequencies are thus predictably altered. Further, the vibration spectrum is narrowed and its amplitude reduced through hysteresis loss of closing impulse energy at each such altered resonant frequency. At least a first predetermined assembly resonant frequency is achieved through adjustment of shear preload, and at least a second predetermined assembly resonant frequency is achieved through choice of a viscoelastic or composite element in the peripheral groove.
