Abstract: A deadweight pressure standard provides improved measurement accuracy and repeatability. The standard includes a flow regulator having a first valve controlled by a first pair of non-hysteresis sylphons, and a supply regulator having a second valve controlled by a second pair of non-hysteresis sylphons. The first and second valves achieve an equilibrium state between the supply regulator and the flow regulator. The second valve regulates pressure generated by an applied pressure supply. A mass-to-pressure transducer transforms an applied gravitational force into a reference pressure regulated by the first valve. The center of pressure force on the first pair of non-hysteresis sylphons, and the center of pressure force on the first valve, are exerted along a first reference axis. Abstract: To prevent the entry of ambient air and liquid such as rainwater into a direct acting type auto-by starter and thereby prevent the formation of rust in the auto-by starter, by adjusting pressure fluctuations in the auto-by starter caused by the operation of a starting valve for opening and closing a starting intake passage. A starting valve is lifted to open a starting intake passage to start an internal combustion engine. Pressure in a sliding space for the starting valve is increased, so that the gas in the sliding space flows out. The flow of the gas is absorbed by an increase in volume inside a bellows boot mounted on an upper portion of the starting valve. When the starting valve is lowered by the operation of a spring member, the pressure in the sliding space is reduced to allow the gas flow from the bellows boot into the sliding space.

Abstract: A gate valve assembly, which may be used to seal a semiconductor processing chamber to isolate the chamber and/or maintain pressure or vacuum therein. The invention includes a gate coupled to a linear axial shaft. The axial shaft is driven using a single action actuator. The gate of the present invention has an inclined surface to the shaft. Because the surface is inclined, the gate can be forced by the movement of the axial shaft against a similarly inclined gate seat surface. The angled surface translates the axial sealing force provided by the axial shaft into a positive lateral sealing force without the need for lateral movement of the gate.

Abstract: A fluid metering device that employs a sealing element for delivering a metered dose of a pressurized fluid. The sealing element includes a metal bellows sealing element or metal bellows that attaches to a valve needle and a housing. The metal bellows includes a number of corrugated elements for sealingly guiding said valve needle as the valve needle moves to deliver the metered dose of pressurized fluid.

  • Patent number: 6302374
Abstract: An extended stem globe valve for use with cryogenic fluids, wherein the elongated shaft between the valve seal or disk and the actuator is constructed so that rotational movement of the actuator results in linear movement of the shaft, without imparting a large rotational movement of the shaft about its longitudinal axis and with reduced thermal conduction between the mating parts. Coupling of the valve disk to a valve disk retainer is effected in the area above the valve seat. The valve also includes a shaft insulator so constructed and arranged to retain leakage fluid in a volume space closer to the valve seat. Optionally the valve can include bellows sealing of the shaft to prevent fluid from contacting the uppermost portion of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6253972
Abstract: A liquid valve particularly suited for dispensing of glue at high repetition rate has a solenoid-retracted pin that normally engages a valve seat to close the valve. Glue under pressure enters the chamber in which the pin operates, close to the valve seat. To seal against the flow of pressurized glue up along the pin toward the solenoid, and also to exert a light valve closing force on the pin, a thin metal bellows member is sealed and fixed to the pin near its lower end, at one end of the bellows, and to a connector within which the pin slides, at an opposite, upper end of the bellows. The geometry of the valve seat and the valve closure end of the pin is such that only a very slight retraction of the valve pin opens the valve sufficiently to deliver glue at full velocity through the valve orifice. The valve is capable of accurate glue dispensing through a wide range of operating pressure.

Abstract: A bellows-type pressure responsive valve comprising bellows 66 of a closed structure as a pressure sensing element adapted to vary an opening amount of the valve by transmitting expansions and contractions of the bellows 66 to a valve body 61 by means of a valve rod 65 which is supported on a valve housing 51 so as to move in a valve lifting direction, characterized in that the bellows 66 and the valve rod 65 are spherically connected by means of a spherical coupling structure which is incorporated at a connecting portion of the bellows 66 and the valve rod 65 and composed of a ball 77 which is rotatably disposed coaxially with the valve rod 65, and a spherical recess 78 which is formed at a closed end face 67a of a bellows body 67 of the bellows 66 at a central position thereof. With this structure, centripetal motions of the bellows and the valve rod are automatically effected by means of the spherical coupling between the bellows and the valve rod.
