  • Patent number: 9759344
Abstract: A flush valve has a valve body having an inlet and an outlet, and a piston disposed in the valve body between the inlet and the outlet. A surface is disposed in the valve body for seating the piston. The surface tapers inwardly as it passes into the outlet wherein the taper improves the flow characteristics of fluid passing by the taper thereby minimizing water hammer and leakage therethrough.

Abstract: A valve has a valve body including a main chamber having a first port and a second port, and a main poppet disposed within the main chamber. The main poppet includes a first surface forming a control chamber within the main chamber. The valve has a first passage communicating the control chamber with the first port, and a second passage communicating the control chamber with the second port. The valve also includes a pilot valve having a pilot poppet for controlling fluid flow from the control chamber to the first port through a third passage, and to the second port through a fourth passage, respectively. The valve may further have a feedback spring coupled between the main poppet and the pilot poppet to provide a force relative to a distance between the main poppet and the pilot poppet.

  • Patent number: 6712088
Abstract: A counter-flow prevention valve is disposed within a body of a pilot-type channel valve. While electrical power is applied to a solenoid coil and the pilot-type channel valve is opened, i.e., while a gas is flowing through the counter-flow prevention valve and the gas is expanding, heat generated by the application of electrical power to the solenoid coil is conducted via the body and is effectively transferred to the counter-flow prevention valve. Therefore, even if the gas contains water vapor and even if this gas is cooled due to significant expansion, the water vapor can be prevented from freezing within the counter-flow prevention valve. Moreover, the volume of the pipe between the pilot-type channel valve and the counter-flow prevention valve is small, thereby resulting in a fast rise in pressure within the pipe and a quick opening of the counter-flow prevention valve, which provides an excellent valve-opening response.

  • Patent number: 6682316
Abstract: A dispensing system for petrol pumps, comprising a pump, a dispensing valve in a petrol pump nozzle and an electrically controllable solenoid valve (10), characterized in that the solenoid valve (10) includes a directly acting principal valve (18) and a bypass valve (30) arranged so as to bypass the principal valve (18), and a solenoid drive (34) by which in case of a differential pressure present above the sealing seat (24) of the principal valve (18) at first only the bypass valve (30) is able to be switched to the open position, and only after a pressure compensation has, occurred at the sealing seat (24) of the principal valve (18) by the opening of the bypass valve (30) is the principal valve (18) also able to be switched to the open position.

  • Patent number: 6588724
Abstract: An on-off valve that operates between an open position and a closed position, particularly with high-pressure working fluids. has a valve body that defines a valve cavity. A valve poppet is slidably mounted within the valve cavity. A bushing is mounted with respect to the valve body and divides the valve cavity into a first chamber and a second chamber. One end of the valve poppet is positioned within the first chamber and an opposite end of the valve poppet is positioned within the second chamber. A spring urges the valve poppet into the first chamber. An actuating pin is slidably mounted with respect to the valve body. In the closed position, the actuating pin seals the passage of the valve poppet. An actuator is used to operate the actuating pin between the open position and the closed position of the on-off valve.

  • Patent number: 6254057
Abstract: A fluid control valve has a valve member which, on closing creates a stagnation zone between the valve member and a surface within the valve. In the stagnation zone fluid pressure is greater than it is in an adjacent constriction zone. This causes the valve to close slowly, thereby reducing the likelihood that water hammer will occur on closure of the valve. The design of the valve member also reduces resonances which can cause annoying noises and premature wear. A flow restriction chamber further slows closure of the valve. The fluid control valve may be controlled by a conventional 3-way pilot valve. Preferably the fluid control valve is used with a pilot valve according to the invention having a rocker member which, on actuation, first closes an inlet valve member and then opens an outlet valve member. The pilot valve may be used in other situations where a 3-way valve is needed.

  • Patent number: 5429099
Abstract: A flow regulator for automotive vehicles of the type having a computer-controlled emission control system. The flow regulator has an electric vacuum regulator (EVR) valve that regulates the vacuum signal provided to a vacuum regulator valve in accordance with the current signal supplied to the EVR valve by the engine controller unit. The vacuum regulator valve includes a control chamber and a valve chamber that are separated by a movable diaphragm valve assembly. The preload on a biasing spring acting on the diaphragm valve assembly can be adjusted during calibration of the flow regulator for setting a first calibration point. An adjustable flow restrictor provided in the inlet portion of the vacuum regulator valve can be varied during calibration for setting a second calibration point. In addition, an anti-permeation filter is provided for inhibiting the venting of fuel vapors to atmosphere that have permeated through the diaphragm valve.

  • Patent number: 5301919
Abstract: A sprinkler valve suitable for flows from about one (1) to two (2) gallons per hour to thirty (30) to forty (40) gallons per minute. A double diaphragm utilizes a principle of differential areas to create force for any non-zero pressure through the valve. This feature, in conjunction with momentary fluid flow in the solenoid circuit, is responsible for complete regulation of the flow characteristics of the valve. The requirement for large shut-off springs and flow control adjustment screws has been eliminated. The flow may be determined by the size of the valve. The need for solenoid springs has been eliminated. In one embodiment two (2) separate diaphragms utilize a principle of differential areas to create force for any non-zero pressure through the valve. This feature, in conjunction with momentary fluid flow in the solenoid circuit, is responsible for complete control of the flow characteristics of the valve.

  • Patent number: 5101858
Abstract: The valve needle of a gas sealing valve for plastic processing plants may be controlled by a control valve, which in turn is controlled by a working gas volume in order to prevent formation of internal waviness in injection molded articles even under very high gas pressures and to assure high flexibility in production without refitting delays. During plastic mass injection the valve needle seals tightly. During gas return the valve needle remains open until the gas bubble in the mold cavity is completely emptied.
