Abstract: The present invention relates to automatic transmissions of land motor vehicles. Specifically, the present invention relates to pressure regulation in the system of automatic transmissions of land motor vehicles. The present invention is a pressure regulator valve that limits TV pressure. This valve is meant to replace the original equipment valve in the same casing the said original valve sat. The pressure regulator valve is slightly oversized and the kit has an o-ring equipped end plug to more positively seal the valve bore and prevent pressure loss, known in the industry as EPC/TV pressure. Furthermore, the valve has annular grooves added to prevent side loading by properly centering the valve in a bore. The pressure regulator valve comprises a steel ball and a spring combination with a gel like substance being added to prevent high wear and tear of the entire valve.

Liquid is forced into a pressure vessel already filled with liquid to effect the compression. A slug of liquid is ejected from the pressure vessel into a cumulation nozzle by the energy stored in the compressed liquid when a valve is rapidly opened. • Patent number: 4363464
Abstract: A high pressure multistage valve in which a multiflanged plug is shiftable vertically within a passage provided by a stack of encircling rings, which can be readily exchanged or replaced. A turnable stem effects linear movement of the plug via a motion converting mechanism located in the interior of the valve. A lubricating system for the mechanism has a movable interface with the fluid being controlled.

  • Patent number: 4340204
Abstract: A high pressure gate valve having at least one pressure actuated seal means between the bonnet part of the valve body and the valve actuating stem and between the chamber part of the valve body and the valve actuating stem is disclosed. Each seal means includes at least one seal assembly. Each seal assembly includes two sets of plural, e.g., four, metal rings with an elevated temperature resistant and chemical resistant ring of solid lubricant, e.g., tetrafluoroethylene or graphite, separating the metal rings. Each metal ring is softer than the stem and is of rectangular cross-section. The seal assembly is actuated by pressure on larger follower metal rings. When multiple seal means are involved, another metal follower ring larger than the set of metal rings of the seal means also separates the two sets of seal assemblies. The seal means may also include a biasing spring. Each seal means is disposed in an annular pocket or stuffing box in the adjacent part of the valve body extending around the stem.

  • Patent number: 4318422
Abstract: A butterfly valve is adapted to pivot a valve stem to a valve body through openings formed in a ring-shaped elastic valve seat attached inside the valve body, to slidably contact the valve member and the inner face of the valve seat each other in the vicinity of the valve stem, and to form recesses for charging lubricant in the slidably contacting face on the valve seat or on the side face of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 4253642
Abstract: A valve stem lubricating device. The lubricating device is designed for employment for use with valve stem valves that are difficultly accessible as in the interior of the valve yoke where the stem ends are protected and access is not available to the interior portion of the valve. The device is comprised of two hinged half sections or circular portions provided with lubricating material such that when the hinged sections are closed around the valve stem the lubricating material contacts the valve stem. The half sections are provided with an arcuate cut-out portion adapted to contact opposed vertical rod-like members of the valve yoke so that the cut-out portion can fit therearound. A friction fit can be made whereby the cut-out portion fits snuggly around the opposite support members forming the valve yoke. In a modification the lubricating device is provided with a super structure comprising two hinged half members which support inwardly extending wire bristles.

  • Patent number: 4023710
Abstract: A valve for a pressure pack primarily designed for dispensing powders in the absence of liquid. The valve has the usual housing, gasket, stem, spring and mounting flange components but the special problems of dispensing powders are overcome (a) by introducing a liquid film between the sealing surfaces; (b) by physically removing particulate material from the valve stem by wiping and (c) by providing a double seal between the pressurized contents of the can and the atmosphere. In a further modification, the valve stem is connected to or continuous with the dip tube.

  • Patent number: 4007912
Abstract: A plug type valve for use in handling the flow of particulate catalyst is disclosed. In catalytic cracking equipment, it is necessary to regenerate the catalyst. The flow of catalyst to and from the regenerator must be controlled. A plug valve is disclosed for control of the flow of catalyst and the valve includes a tapered spear-like plug formed of a sacrificial material mounted on a stem. The stem is protected against the abrasive action of the particulate catalyst by means of a cylindrical spaced shield below the valve element and a circular jet of steam ejected downwardly below the shield and parallel to the stem.
