Patent number: 8740180Abstract: A conventional rotary valve in which is provided with a locking mechanism for fixing the degree of aperture so as to prevent misoperation and reduce accidents caused thereby, and even a previously installed valve can be converted to a valve having a locking mechanism, simply by replacing the handle alone. In a rotary valve wherein a valve element that is engaged with a stem is turned by turning the stem, which is connected to a handle, so as to open and close the valve, and having a top flange that is provided on a neck of a valve body that supports the stem, a notch is formed at the peripheral edge of the top flange, and a locking member, having a protrusion that can be latched in the notch in the top flange by way of a torsion spring, is pivotably supported at the center of the handle or on a grip portion thereof.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2007Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: Asahi Organic Chemicals Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Matsushita, Tomoki Matsui

Patent number: 8534313Abstract: An auxiliary actuator for a toilet fill valve comprises a plunger oriented under an arm of the toilet fill valve to lift the arm to close the toilet fill valve when the plunger is in a raised position. A spring or hydraulic mechanism urges the plunger into the raised position. A solenoid mechanism is normally de-energized and engages a latching mechanism of the plunger when the plunger is in a lowered position. An electronic sensing circuit has at least one sensor and a power source. The electronic sensing circuit is electrically connected with the solenoid mechanism to energize the solenoid mechanism upon detection of a fault condition based on the input of the at least one sensor. Fault conditions may include a flush valve leak, a stuck-open flush valve, a plugged toilet, and a leaking fill valve.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2013Date of Patent: September 17, 2013Inventor: Kermit L. Patent number: 8282390Abstract: A cooking appliance equipped with at least one regulating valve having a rotary regulator organ. The rotary regulator organ has an actuating shaft a plurality of peripheral openings adapted for regulating a flow of gas through the regulating valve. In a first angular position the rotary regulator organ is adapted to supply a constant flow Qmin of a first type of fuel through a first peripheral opening. In a second angular position, successive to the first angular position, the rotary regulator organ is adapted to supply a constant flow Qmin of a second type of fuel through a second peripheral opening. In one implementation a feature that rotates with the actuating shaft is adapted to engage a feature on the cooking appliance to limit the rotation of the rotary regulator organ to the first angular position.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2011Date of Patent: October 9, 2012Assignee: Coprecitec, S.L.Inventor: IƱigo Albizuri

Patent number: 7708025Abstract: A poppet valve member includes a main body, and a cover portion disposed at the first end of the valve member. The cover portion is removable from the main body, the cover portion including a first seal disposed about an outer perimeter of the cover portion. The valve member includes a head portion disposed proximate the first end and behind the cover portion, the head portion including a second seal disposed about an outer perimeter defined by the head portion. A webbing portion is disposed between the cover portion and the head portion, the webbing portion including a fault structure to enable the cover portion to be removed from the main body and broken off from the head portion. The main body is formed of a molded material, and the first and second seals are formed of an overmold material molded onto the main body.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2006Date of Patent: May 4, 2010Assignee: Colder Products CompanyInventor: Robert K. Patent number: 7104518Abstract: A ready method to disconnect the motive power of an actuator from the input of a valve. A handle is inserted onto the coupling held in the housing, disconnecting the motive power of the actuator and engaging the driven piece connected to the input shaft of the valve. With this handle in place, manual control of the valve is attained and the handle indicates position. The housing can be orientated so that the handle can be inline with the valve action as normally done on manually operated valves. The position of the valve may be fixed by locking the handle to the housing, removing automatic control of the valve. When the handle is removed from the coupling, normal automatic operation is restored. The handle may store at the valve for ready use by maintenance or in a secure location to prevent unauthorized use.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Inventor: George William Wood

Patent number: 6361017Abstract: A valve for a tank containing anhydrous ammonia has a valve mechanism joined to a flow chamber from the tank. The valve mechanism has a bonnet with a hole through a sidewall of the bonnet. A stem valve portion and a stem handle portion are mounted in the bonnet. The stem valve protion is connected to the valve. The stem handle portion is connected to a handle. The handle may be raised or lowered with respect to the bonnet to selectively engage or disengage the stem handle portion from the stem valve portion. A hasp pin may be passed through the hole in the bonnet and locked in such position for preventing the handle from being lowered.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Inventors: Spencer M. Patent number: 5145151Abstract: An internal valve for a mobile tank car having an opening with a valve seat positioned in the opening. A sealing valve element is positioned in the tank for coacting with the valve seat for opening and closing the valve. A disc valve is releasably connected about the passageway below the valve element. A stem sealingly extends through the cap and is engagable with the valve element when the valve element is in the closed position. An actuator is connected to the stem outside of the cap for actuating the stem and locking the valve element in the closed position. A secondary seal may be actuated by the stem.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1992Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Inventor: Clyde H. Chronister

Patent number: 4911198Abstract: The securing system includes a device and a method for securing a valve assembly in either an open or closed operational position. The automatically operated valve assembly opens and closes a transmission line to flow upon rotation of a rotatable shaft member. The valve assembly is connected to receive remotely transmitted control signals for operating the rotatable shaft member. A flattened circumferential section is located on the rotatable shaft and a locking clip member includes a flattened surface section. The shaft member is externally accessible by the manually operated locking clip which fits around the rotatable shaft in a stationary locking position where the flattened circumferential section is contiguously disposed against the flattened surface section of the locking clip element. An anchoring mechanism secures the locking clip element in the stationary locking position so that the rotation of the shaft member is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1989Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: Philadelphia Control Systems, Inc.Inventor: Charles P.
