  • Patent number: 5476050
Abstract: A single beam aerial work platform with a base structure, top structure, and at least three scissor mechanisms. A hydraulic cylinder for raising the top structure relative to the base structure is attached between the first or lower scissor mechanism and the third or top scissor mechanism. The hydraulic cylinder is attached by a mounting bracket at an offset to the pivot points and structural members of the scissor mechanisms. An additional stress reducing beam, attached parallel to one of the structural members of the middle scissors mechanism, reduces the horizontal bending stress in the structural members of the scissor mechanisms and the connecting pin loading in the scissor mechanism pins.

  • Patent number: 5419534
Abstract: A device for opening a scissor-type jack with paired cross-bars, the device having a chamber of variable volume connected to fluid inlet and outlet provided by end plates to which two cover plates are fixed. The first cover plate has two flanges disposed on the opposite sides of the cover plate and extending to a second cover plate and are connected for rotation of the first cover plate to the cross-bars. The second cover plate has two flanges. The distance between the two flanges is smaller than the distance between the flanges of the first cover plate and the flanges of the first cover plate are coaxially connected for rotation to the inside surface of the outer cross-bars, while the flanges of the second cover plate are coaxially connected for rotation to the inside surface of the inside cross-bars. In this way the axis of the rotary connection of the two cover plates to the cross-bars, intersects a line joining the centroids of the two end plates.

  • Patent number: 5394959
Abstract: A scissors lift apparatus has three scissor units for supporting heavy loads. A central scissor unit has its arms located inwardly of the immediately lower and upper scissor units, and folds into the upper and lower scissor units for storage within a chamber in a mobiled chassis. The scissor arms of the upper and lower scissor units includes rectangular box beams with a greater vertical than horizontal dimension. Hydraulic cylinders are located within and coupled to the opposite two arms of the center scissor unit to expand and collapse the same. The mobile chassis has front steering wheels mounted with hydraulic powered-caster-type wheel drive and steering apparatus. The steering king pin is laterally offset from the vertical plane through the center of wheel. A dual fail safe braking unit on the trailing wheels has an applied hydraulic cylinder unit including a floating cylinder with a single spring applied piston and rod which is supported in a fixed journal and connected to one wheel.

  • Patent number: 5375681
Abstract: The present invention overcomes existing problems by the provision of a lifting device below the lowest shanks and endwards of the platform. The lift stroke of the highest scissor obtains thereby a many times longer stroke relative to the very short stroke of the lifting device. In another preferred arrangement of the invention, two columns of scissors are mounted parallel laterally of each other for synchronized operation. The highest scissor-shanks then connect to top arms which bear holder shafts on which holders are kept to extend downwards from the holder shafts. The holders then carry on their lower ends the platform, whereby the platform can become sank down for meeting the level of the ground for an easy loading of the platform. The holders with the platform can become replaced by a cabin. The lifting device of the invention requires thereby only small space for instalment in a house or a hall.

Abstract: Cargo-transporter, particularly of the trailer type, having a loading floor, in which a loading floor portion situated directly behind another elevated loading floor portion but in front of the wheel assembly, includes a lifting platform having a lifting height corresponding to the difference in the loading floor levels. An apparatus for guiding and lifting the platform is accommodated in a space below the platform. The transporter is of the self-supporting type. The lifting platform is vertically movably guided and has a length substantially corresponding to the length of the elevated loading floor portion. A guiding and elevating apparatus is accommodated in a cup-shaped housing secured against a transporter bottom and having a height corresponding to the lifting height of the platform. The lifting platform is provided at its end edge remote from the elevated loading floor portion with a downwardly extending skirt extending in the lowered position of the lifting platform to be adjacent the housing bottom.

  • Patent number: 4890692
Abstract: An elevating device for a workman's platform in which a single lift cylinder is utilized, positioned below the lift arms when the arms are in their fully retracted or lowered position. A piston of the cylinder is operatively connected to one of the lift arms, with the opposite end of the cylinder being operatively connected to one end of a pivot arm assembly which is mounted for rotation about a fixed axis on the base. The opposite end of the pivot arm assembly carries a roller which is adapted to engage the cam surface of a cam plate mounted on the same lift arm. When the lift cylinder is actuated, the piston functions to raise the lift arm at its connection point to the piston, simultaneously with the rotation of the pivot arm assembly and the consequent lifting of the cam roller against the cam surface thereby elevating the arm at that location as well.

  • Patent number: 4830147
Abstract: A jacking device, which is, for example, used for lifting a motor vehicle when repairing it, includes at least one jack installed in a floor pit and including at least two horizontally spaced apart parallel pairs of links which are designed for simultaneous movement in two parallel vertical planes, respectively. A mechanism is associated with the links for moving them vertically. A table is horizontally supported on the links for lifitng e.g. a motor vehicle. Each pair of links consists of a first link and a second link which are so connected to each other as to form an X-shaped assembly when they are raised to raise the table. The first links in those two pairs of links are parallel to each other, and the second links are also parallel to each other. The links and the link moving mechanism are foldable into the pit when the table is lowered to close the pit.
