  • Patent number: 11092212
Abstract: A wire strainer including a drive means having a mounting block with a drum mounted for rotation relative thereto, and an actuation means connected to the drum for selectively causing the drum to rotate relative to the mounting block. A line member is operatively connected to the drum in a manner such that rotation of the drum in one direction causes the drum to pull the line member relative to the mounting block. Locking means is operatively connected to the mounting block and adapted to selectively lock the drum against rotation in the opposite direction. Gripping means is operatively connected to the mounting block, wherein the gripping means is adapted to be releasably attached to a wire to be strained. The line member includes securing means for releasably securing the line member to a strainer post or similar anchor.

  • Patent number: 8231109
Abstract: A reel structure for a marine fabric tape includes a reel device pivoted to an engaging seat. When a handle of a windlass is turned, a flat rod will be driven to rotate a gear shaft which then drives a gear disc to rotate. Because a head portion is positioned in an axle shaft, a fabric tape is rolled up along with the axle shaft to form a circular shape, providing an even applied force for rolling up the fabric tape.

  • Patent number: 7086122
Abstract: A ratchet-type buckle (100) is disclosed for use with a ladder strap (80), wherein the buckle includes a toothed, barrel-shaped strap engagement member (140) that is rotatably mounted between oppositely disposed sidewalls (130) that are pivotally coupled to a base (110). The engagement member is positioned to drivably engage and hold the strap. A holding pawl (160) allows forward rotation and hinders backward rotation of the engagement member. A driving pawl (180) is incorporated into a lever assembly (170), which is pivotally coupled to the sidewalls, the driving pawl positioned to engage and rotate the engagement member teeth when the lever assembly is pivoted in a forward direction. The pivotal coupling of the sidewalls to the base permit the engagement member to be lifted away from the base, to release the strap. The sidewalls are preferably biased towards the base.

  • Patent number: 6076805
Abstract: A rope pulling device includes a come-along (20) having a frame (30) on which are mounted an anchor end grip assembly (200) and a load end grip assembly (300). During operation, the anchor end grip assembly is locked on the rope. A hook (100) is carried on the spindle (62) of the ratchet assembly (60). A lever assembly (50) drives a pawl assembly (80) which rotates the ratchet assembly in the forward direction. The hook causes rope to move through the unlocked load end grip assembly and to wind about the spindle. When the spindle is full, the load end grip assembly is locked. A lock assembly (70), which prevents counter-rotation of the spindle is released, allowing the spindle to be reversed and emptied. Slack rope is then passed around the hook, and wound about the spindle for approximately two turns. The load end grip assembly may then be released and the spindle may again be filled with rope, thereby pulling the load (400) closer to the anchor (500).

  • Patent number: 4576363
Abstract: A portable hoist or puller has two facing half shell members housing a chain sprocket rotatably affixed to a drive shaft supported for rotation by a pair of rollers. The first roller is slidably fixed for rotation with the drive shaft while the second is threaded to the shaft. The periphery of the threaded roller is serrated for engagement by a spring detent to inhibit its free rotation. Each roller has a hub portion extending outwardly of the housing to selectively receive a drive tool. A friction disc is disposed between each of the rollers and adjacent housing portion. To apply force to a load connected to the chain trained over the sprocket, the drive tool is coupled to the first roller and rotated causing the sprocket to feed the chain with the rollers pulled against the sprocket. If the drive tool released, the pull of the load tends to reversely rotate the shaft whereby the threaded arrangement causes the rollers to lock-up against the housing.

  • Patent number: 4367993
Abstract: A supporting bracket is secured to the housing of a tightener for a load binder used with a truck. The bracket extends outwardly in overlapping engagement with the upper surface of the inwardly projecting flange of a truck bed side rail and is slidable along the rail. A sprocket and ratchet are rigidly mounted on a shaft rotatably mounted in the housing, and a pawl connected to the housing engages the ratchet. When the shaft is rotated a sprocket chain, one end of which is fastened to the load binder, is wound on the sprocket to tighten the load binder. A shock absorber and tension-indicating block is disposed between the housing and the side rail.
