Patent number: 10752156Abstract: The ratchet chain binder comprises a seat, a rotating shaft, a ratchet, a handle capable of driving the ratchet to rotate, and two screw tightening components rotatably connected to the seat in a coaxial manner. Two drive bevel gears are disposed respectively on opposing ends of the two screw tightening components. The rotating shaft is provided with a transmission gear and a transmission bevel gear simultaneously engaging the two drive bevel gears, the rotating shaft is capable of driving the two screw tightening components to rotate and changing an overall length of the two screw tightening components. The transmission gear is disposed between the two screw tightening components, an intermediate gear is rotationally connected to the seat, and the ratchet is located above the intermediate gear and engages with the intermediate gear.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2019Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Zhejiang Topsun Logistic Control Co., Ltd.Inventors: Buqin Ruan, Zhengzhong Zhu

Publication number: 20140326935Abstract: A ratcheting load binder with enclosed ratchet mechanism has an elongated tubular body, a handle, a ratcheting mechanism, and two threaded shafts. The handle is engaged with the tubular body by the ratcheting mechanism, and is perpendicular to the tubular body. A ratchet gear and ratchet pawl of the ratcheting mechanism are enclosed within a housing of the handle. The ratchet pawl is engaged and disengaged from the ratchet gear by turning a ratchet lever outside the housing. The tubular body has internal threads at its extremities that are of opposing handedness. The threaded shafts are engaged with the internal threads within the elongated tubular body. Turning the tubular body by using the handle causes the threaded shafts to move in opposing directions, allowing a chain to be tightened or loosened between two locations by ratcheting the tubular body with the handle. The handle may also be folded for storage.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2013Publication date: November 6, 2014Inventor: James Chuan CHAO

Patent number: 8851255Abstract: A ratchet assembly for a load binder includes a pawl bearing assembly biased between a surface of the pawl and a biased movable element whose movement is actuated by the insertion or withdrawal of the lever. In one position of the movable element, the bearing assembly is urged against the pawl to lock it. In the other position of the movable element, the bearing assembly is allowed to reduce its pressure on the pawl.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2012Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: Quality Chain Canada Ltd.Inventor: Vince Mitchell

Patent number: 7552913Abstract: A load binder mechanism is disclosed that has an improved arrangement for connecting the hook and shaft end portions of the load binder to the elongated axially extending tubular body. The load binder mechanism of the present invention provides an axially extending tubular body having opposed end portions, each end portion being fitted with a sleeve that has both internal and external threads. The load binder mechanism includes first and second attachment members, each providing a shaft with an externally threaded portion. The attachment member shafts have respective right and left-hand thread patterns that engage correspondingly threaded internal bore sections of the sleeves.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2007Date of Patent: June 30, 2009Inventors: Robert S. Patent number: 5911409Abstract: A power drive assembly is provided for an elongated turn buckle-type cable tightener having an elongated sleeve with a driven gear wheel on it, and two loop-defining cable and anchors respectively threadedly engaged in its opposite ends. A drive unit is adapted to be coupled to the sleeve and has a motor-driven gear engageable with the driven gear for rotating the sleeve. Two right-angle reaction bars couple the frame of the drive unit to the cable anchors each reaction bar having one end slidably received in openings in the drive unit frame and another and received through the loop of the associated cable anchor.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1997Date of Patent: June 15, 1999Assignee: Snap-on Tools CompanyInventor: Donald D. Patent number: 5611521Abstract: A power drive for an elongated cable tightener having an elongated sleeve and a driven gear wheel supported on the sleeve is provided. The drive includes an outer frame having connected, and laterally spaced, elongated first and second outer side members, each outer side member having first and second ends, the second ends defining aligned outer notches opening longitudinally outward. The drive also includes an inner frame disposed between the first and second outer side members and supported thereby for movement between engaged and open positions, the inner frame having connected and laterally spaced first and second inner side members, each inner side member having first and second ends, the second ends defining aligned inner notches opening laterally outward of the side members, wherein when the inner frame is in the engaged position the inner notches are aligned with the outer notches whereby the sleeve may be disposed in both the inner and outer notches.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1996Date of Patent: March 18, 1997Assignee: Snap-on Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Donald D. Patent number: 4830339Abstract: A pair of laterally spaced, generally parallel opposite side members are provided and defined corresponding first and second ends. The first ends define aligned notches formed therein opening laterally outward of the side members in directions disposed generally normal to the longitudinal extent of the side members and the notched first side member ends may be hook-engaged over the longitudinal central portion of a turnbuckle assembly having an external gear wheel thereon, with the notched first ends of the side members embracingly receiving the gear wheel of the turnbuckle central portion therethrough. Longitudinal mid-portions of the side members journal a second gear wheel therebetween, and the second gear wheel is mesh engageable with the associated turnbuckle gear wheel. In addition, one axial lend of the second gear wheel projects through the corresponding side member and is equipped with an enlarged hexagonal head (or the equivalent) with which an impact wrench may be operatively engaged.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1988Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Inventors: Danny C.
