Patent number: 7628383Abstract: A rachet strap tightener and a power driven rotary tool are arranged to be operated together for tightening a strap. The body of the power driven rotary tool is arranged to be anchored in mating engagement relative to the body of the rachet strap tightener, in addition to coupling the rotating mating parts of the tool and the strap tightener, such that the torque applied when winding the spindle of the tightener no longer acts to twist the tightener body from the user's hands but rather the torque is anchored directly through the bodies so that winding of the spindle with the power driven tool can be accomplished quickly, efficiently and in a safe manner.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2008Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Endurapak Inc.Inventor: Ernest J. Cumbers

Patent number: 5070582Abstract: A load binder tool uses a pair of first and second coupler-tension members pivotal connected, at spaced apart centers, to an operating handle. A pair of major gear members engage a pair of minor gear members attached to the first coupler-tension member. A tension connector pin is journaled to both the major gear member and one end of the second coupler-tension member. The rotation of the connector pin about the axis of rotation of the major gear members creates an additional mechanical advantage. This rotation about the axis of rotation of the major gear members also causes the connector pin axis of rotation to be offset relative to the major gear axis of rotation in order to lock the load binder tool in the closed position using the tension applied to the load binding tension members or chains.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1990Date of Patent: December 10, 1991Inventor: Rick Anderson
