Publication number: 20070262291Abstract: This device acts on each of two ropes in a mutually opposite sense. For each rope the device includes a pivotably mounted arm, and the two arms are arranged in a converging arrangement and thus converge towards their free ends and are adapted to be simultaneously actuated by a pushbutton operable for pressing them at their free ends. The pushbutton includes a spring arranged to bias the pushbutton away from the arms and each of the ropes is secured to the free end of a respective one of the arms, these latter being pivotably mounted to a tubular body with the ropes extending through its inside. A cowling is arranged on the tubular body and has an opening in which the pushbutton is guided during its actuation.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2007Publication date: November 15, 2007Inventor: Manuel Jane Santamaria

Patent number: 4779844Abstract: A draw works for a mobile crane, to selectively reel in and reel out the cable of the crane by appropriate rotation of the cable pulley, includes a stable platform having mounted in fixed relationship therewith an engine with a rotatable output shaft, a rotatable speed reduction wheel, and a rotatable idler wheel. A pinion is mounted on the engine output shaft, and is aligned in a common plane with the speed reduction wheel and the idler wheel. The pinion and the reduction wheel are separated from one another, and the idler wheel is adjustably mounted on a stanchion between the two. A flexible endless belt is wrapped and retained on the pinion and the reduction wheel to engage a portion of the circumference of each for translational movement of the belt with rotation of the pinion, and thereby to rotate the reduction wheel.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1987Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Inventor: Donald G. Patent number: 4454978Abstract: This invention relates to improved apparatus and process for manufacture of tunnel modules and tunnel sections used to build underwater tunnel tubes. A collapsible fixture is situated to roll up flat steel plate into a circular shell for the tunnel modules. A hydraulic cylinder is utilized to adjust the diameter of the fixture without collapsing it, in order to close any gaps between the ends of the plate when it is rolled into a shell.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1983Date of Patent: June 19, 1984Assignee: AMCA International CorporationInventors: Joseph J. Patent number: 4418561Abstract: This invention relates to improved apparatus and process for manufacture of tunnel modules and tunnel sections used to build underwater tunnel tubes. A collapsible fixture is used to roll up a steel plate into a cylindrical shell. Cables wrapped around channels on the outer ends of fixtures are used to roll up the fixture along the plate. After the fixture with the shell on it is placed on pedestals for further fabrication, cables placed in the channels are used to rotate the shells. After the fixture is collapsed within the shell, it is raised up by pedestal lifting mechanisms, and wheels provided on the fixture are lowered into place to aid in removal of the fixture from the shell, and onto a roll-out table. Roller mechanisms are also used to aid in the removal of the fixture from the shell. The roll-out table is situated between two sets of pedestals and used in the removal of fixtures from single modules or sets of modules.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1981Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: Amca International CorporationInventors: Edward Johnston, Morton Jacobs, Melvin E. Patent number: 4406151Abstract: An improved collapsible fixture for fabrication of tunnel modules and tunnel sections for building underwater tunnel tubes is provided. The fixture has a series of shell-like support members along its length, each member having a stationary base portion, two rotatable side portions and a connecting foldable linkage portion. A common truss is connected to each of the foldable linkage portions and is activated by a plurality of hydraulically operated cylinders connected to the wheel core member of the fixture. In order to collapse the fixture, moveable radial spoke members in the shell-like support members are connected to sliding plate members which are moveably attached to hub plates on the wheel core member.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1981Date of Patent: September 27, 1983Assignee: AMCA International CorporationInventors: Ole F. Patent number: 4212421Abstract: An apparatus for retrieving and storing an elongated flexible element such as an electrical cord, garden hose, air hose, vacuum hose, rope, or the like. The elongated flexible element has a first end for attachment to a service and a second end for attachment to an article to be coupled through the elongated member to the service. The apparatus includes first and second wheels, a framework for supporting the wheels in a use orientation, with peripheral surfaces of the wheels in closely spaced-apart relation. The supporting framework supports the wheels for rotation about their respective axes, the axes extending generally parallel to one another. The space between the wheel peripheries is sufficiently small when the wheels are in the use orientation that the wheel peripheries bear frictionally upon the surfaces of the flexible element to move the flexible element therebetween as the wheels are turned. One of the wheels is turned to retrieve the flexible element.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1977Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Inventor: Robert F. Scott
