Including Means For Preventing Or Retarding Rotation Of One Or More Drums In At Least One Direction Patents (Class 254/321)
  • Patent number: 11904984
Abstract: A mooring post unit is provided with a cable holding device on top of the mooring post. The cable holding device has a first pulley wheel, a second pulley wheel and a cable clamp, arranged to guide a mooring cable from a ship over the first pulley wheel to the clamp, back and forth via the second pulley wheel. A hydraulic force limiter is coupled between the second pulley wheel and the mooring post. The hydraulic force is expandable and compressible in the direction of a force exerted by the axis of the pulley wheel. The hydraulic force limiter temporarily gives way when a peak in the force exceeds a threshold. The clamp comprises a pair of drums, around which the mooring cable runs back and forth. By synchronously rotating the drums, the mooring cable may be hauled in or paid out under stress.

  • Patent number: 8448922
Abstract: A safety brake device for a theatre hoist to prevent the uncontrolled release of a load that is suspended above or below people includes an overrunning clutch and a torque disc. The torque disc only rotates with the overrunning clutch when the load is lowered, but must overcome friction forces applied to the surface of the torque disc to do so. The friction forces are constantly applied to the torque disc by maintaining friction material in contact with the torque disc. The friction material is a non-asbestos, non-metallic composite saturated with a lubricant.

  • Patent number: 8006957
Abstract: The spool shaft comprises a shaft portion, two annular first annular portions arranged on opposite ends of the shaft portion, and an annular second larger diameter portion arranged on the end of the shaft portion positioned remote from a center of the spool. Each of the first annular portions and the second larger diameter portion have an outer diameter that is larger than the outer diameter of the shaft portion. The second larger diameter portion is arranged on an outward side of the first annular portion in the axial direction so as to create a space therein between the first annular portion and second larger diameter portion.

  • Patent number: 6737344
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a memory cell of a nonvolatile semiconductor memory, a floating gate, first insulating film and control gate are successively stacked on a tunnel oxide film formed on a substrate of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory. The control gate, the first insulating film and the floating gate are patterned in stripes. Subsequently, a damaged portion of the tunnel oxide film immediately below a sidewall of the floating gate is removed by isotropic etching. A second insulating film is deposited to cover the control gate, sidewalls of the first insulating film, the floating gate and the tunnel oxide film. Thereby, a variation in threshold voltages between memory cells is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6726182
Abstract: A manual winch with dual locking dogs is designed to be easily retrofitted into existing winches. The design of the winch includes a housing supporting a rotatable drum upon which the cable is reeved. A pair of gears are attached to the drum with locking dogs that may be independently engaged with each gear, wherein the drum is prevented from unwinding with at least one locking dog engaged with a respective gear.

  • Patent number: 5324007
Abstract: A load-hoisting system comprising a motor and gear box unit having the parallel outlet gears. Each outlet gear drives a hoisting device connected to the load by a cable, such a device comprising a toothed disk meshing with one of the two outlet gears, the toothed disk driving a winch drum via a friction clutch comprising an intermediate clutch disk, the cable being attached to and wound on the drum, the intermediate disk including retaining catches preventing it from rotating in a direction corresponding to lowering the load, the drum being fixed to a central shaft whose rotation in the direction corresponding to lowering the load ensures that the clutch is engaged. The central shaft is synchronized in rotation with the central shaft of the other hoisting device by means of a plate coupling and a coupling disk provided with tenons or grooves that are orthogonal, the two central shafts being supported by a fixed frame.

  • Patent number: 5046704
Abstract: Improvements in marine winching apparatus and method for use in conjunction with oyster dredging, shrimping, and similar activities in the fishing industry with regard to two, four, and five drum winches as used in the fishing and marine industries. The improvements relate to the overall compact compartmentation and configuration of the device, as well as new innovative improvements in the clutch mechanism, the split collar, wear plates, cleaves, shaft, and other aspects of the mechanism of the winch, which will vary depending upon the contemplated use. An exemplary embodiment and design for a winch specifically designed for oyster dredging, in which the winch includes a new and unique configuration, including the incorporation of a "dredge post" implemented in the construction of the winch for safer and more efficient dredging of oysters, is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4324387
Abstract: A pressure modulated hydrodynamic retarder is provided for a power delivery system and speed sensing means is provided for sensing the rotational speed of the output of the retarder for producing a corresponding pressure fluid flow which acts to vary the fluid relief pressure of a pressure control valve for the retarder and consequently varies the torque of the retarder in accordance with its rotor speed. In this manner the retarder is modulated as determined by its output speed and when the invention is used in a hoisting operation, as the lowering speed increases due to the falling load the retarding action of the retarder also increases. A particularly desirable form of sensing means includes a variable flow fluid pump which is driven at a speed proportional to the lowering speed of the load to proportionately vary the retarding ability of the retarder.

  • Patent number: 4284265
Abstract: Separate torque converters are selectively clutched to the hoist and drag drums of a dragline machine with a selectively engageable clutch providing a power interlock of the output of both torque converters to either one of the drums as desired. The application and control of torque from the two torque converters to the hoist drum is in parallel and to the drag drum is in series progressive, i.e., the drag converter being engaged first and going from zero to maximum while the hoist converter goes from zero to about fifty percent of capacity as the drag converter reaches maximum. The reserve torque in the hoist converter may be selectively applied to the hoist drum to step the drag bucket up if the drag drum approaches a stall condition. The hoist converter may also be selectively engaged to apply a predetermined hold back force during bucket lowering. Another clutch may be engaged to interlock the two drums together for joint operation by the hoist converter.
