Abstract: A method and apparatus for regulating a load compensator device for a handling gear. The load compensation device includes: a stationary internal bell housing; a mobile external bell housing which is secured at one of the ends of a handling member, from the other end of which the load is hung; and an overload pneumatic cylinder and an underload pneumatic cylinder connected to a pressure source and/or exhausted by a series of electric directional control valves. The pressure is controlled within the cylinders continuously to alter the datum position of the external bell housing that corresponds to the state of equilibrium, function of the variations in pressure which are measured at the cylinders. Changes in pressure cancels out any overload or underload effect on the load and returns the load compensator to its state of equilibrium that corresponds to the handling gear in its initial state of equilibrium.

Abstract: An apparatus for lifting and transporting toilets with a wheeled C-shape assembly that has a hoist assembly mounted thereon. The hoist assembly includes a ratcheted spool assembly with an off-centered axle and a central axle that, when they rotate, take in a strap simultaneously from both ends. The strap ends are releasably attached to two separate attachment points in a toilet. One of the attachment points utilizes the openings typically found in the rear portion of a toilet where the toilet seat assembly is typically fastened. The other point uses the inwardly recessed rim found in conventional toilets.

Abstract: A new logging tractor accessory for supporting a cable from grapple-style skidding implement. The inventive device includes a housing secured to an arch of a logging tractor equipped with grapple-style skidding elements. The housing includes a pair of upwardly extending side members disposed in a parallel relationship. Upper ends of the side members have a horizontal support extending therebetween. Three guide members are provided including an upper guide member and a pair of side guide members. The upper guide member extends between the upper ends of the side members in a horizontal orientation. The pair of side guide members are secured to leading edges of the side members. A roller is secured between the side members downwardly of the horizontal support. The roller receives a cable from the logging tractor thereover.

  • Patent number: 5593139
Abstract: A device for connecting a winch to a box hitch in a variety of orientations. The winch connector is generally comprised of an elongated length of square, cross-sectional tubular material having a winch end and a hitch connecting end. The hitch connecting end includes a hole formed through each of the connectors four walls. The holes formed through opposite walls being axially aligned. By placing the hitch end of the connector into a conventional box hitch, and passing a pin through the holes formed through the hitch and connector, the connector will be securely attached to the hitch. To reorient the connector, it may be removed from the hitch and rotated 90, 180 or 270 degrees about its longitudinal axis and then reinserted into the hitch. This will place the winch in a different orientation with respect to the truck. The connector may be adaptively formed to fit in either a class 2 or class 3 box hitch.

  • Patent number: 5590997
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device at a trailer, especially a boat trailer, which includes a chassis supported by wheels and a coupling device in the front for connecting the trailer to a towing vehicle. A two-armed lever consists of arms which form an angle with each other and is pivoted in an axis of rotation which is oriented transversely at the back of the trailer. The first arm of the lever, which mainly points forward from the axis of rotation has a length that exceeds or falls below the length of the other arm of the lever. The two lever-arms comprise parallel arm elements, whose ends are connected to the ends of the axis of rotation and which at their outer ends are lined by transversal beams. A winch tower with a winch is provided at the front end of the trailer. The wire of the winch is adapted to run over the outer ends of the lever-arms and in its end is provided with lifting devices for the objects.

Abstract: The instant invention uses a ladder which attaches to a wheel-base type stabilizer which aids in rolling the object onto and off a roof or other elevated area. The ladder attaches to the wheel base stabilizer with two "U" shaped channels which receive two of the ladder rungs and the rungs are locked in place with two slip pins on the underside. At the top of the ladder is a leg which also has two "U" shaped channels which slip over the rungs of the ladder and are locked in place with two slip pins. A boom, with a mating square tube welded to it, receives the leg which is attached to the top of the ladder. A leg and wheel assembly are assembled into a second mating square tube welded to the other end of the boom and held in place with a slip pin.

Abstract: A compact, foldable, portable luggage carrier made of lightweight aluminum which when folded is light enough for easy hand carrying and storing. The apparatus is especially helpful for persons without sufficient strength to load luggage e.g., into an automobile trunk. The carrier is a rectangular platform on wheels with a handle structure containing a winch and pulley arrangement attached near one end of the platform. The handle structure comprises two upright posts attached at one end perpendicular to the platform and at the other end to the bottom ends of two additional posts supporting a winch, pulleys with a rope and hook for lifting the luggage and depositing it to a desired place, e.g. an automobile trunk and at the top end is a pulley arm parallel to the platform. The winch is manually or battery operated. The pulley arm's height from the platform is vertically adjusted by adjusting the top posts positions relative to the bottom posts.

  • Patent number: 5085408
Abstract: A trailer connecting guide for use with a boat trailer or the like. The trailer connecting guide is attached to one side of the tongue of the trailer and is operable to guide the trailer sufficiently close to the tow vehicle to complete the connection. The trailer connecting guide assembly includes a pulley, a mounting bolt, and a winch cable guide. The cable guide is mounted between the pulley and trailer tongue and includes at least one elongated slot adjacent to the pulley track which restricts the lateral movement of the winch cable with respect to the pulley track to prevent the winch cable from pumping out of the pulley track. In operation, a length of cable is first let off the winch and the end of the winch cable is attached to the towing vehicle adjacent the vehicle hitch. A portion of the cable is then slipped around the pulley and guide assembly and any excess slack in the cable is taken up by operation of the winch.
