  • Patent number: 7896315
Abstract: A control and regulation arrangement for protection of a conveyor or other hoisting or crane device that assures a safe reaction to overloading. A brake apparatus is provided that acts on the conveyor under control of an overload sensor. If the load approaches a predetermined threshold, a signal is emitted from the overload sensor and transmitted to a speed sensor that limits the conveyor speed. Simultaneously the control transmits a signal to the brake apparatus to actuate and stop the conveyor. Upon receipt of a subsequent signal that a load relief state is to be established, the control brakes the conveyor in accord with the speed signal such that the object in transport moves toward a safe position at a constant speed. A conveyor with multiple hoisting devices may include duplicate control and regulation arrangements for each hoisting device.

  • Patent number: 7823864
Abstract: The present invention discloses a plane braking device for electric winches and electric winch which disposes a section of hollow gear shaft, a section of core shaft, a fixing ring, a wedge shape support, a stopping piece, a braking plate, an elastic element, a wedge shape piece B, a wedge shape piece A, a braking clutch base and so on in a gear box of an electric winch. When a motor works, the section of core shaft of the motor drives the braking clutch base and the wedge shape pieces A, B to rotate, until a gap is formed between the adjacent braking plate and stopping piece between the braking clutch base and the wedge shape piece B, so that the braking effect disappears. When the motor stops suddenly, a heavy load lifted by a tight wire drum provides a reverse pulling force so that the wedge shape piece B produces a reverse thrust force to push the friction planes of the braking plate and the stopping piece, so the plane braking effect is achieved quickly.

Abstract: In an electric chain hoist, there is a slipping clutch in the drive line which connects the electric motor to the chain sprocket, the slipping clutch acting as an overload safeguard. A holding brake is also provided to hold the drive line in the braked state when the motor is switched off. The brake exerts its braking action primarily on that part of the drive line which lies between the slipping clutch and the chain sprocket. To prevent the slipping clutch from entering the slipping state when the motor is switched on before the brake has been released to a sufficient extent, the brake is designed in such a way that it acts on both parts of the drive line.

Abstract: The invention involves a hoist for raising and lower loads. The hoist includes a drive motor, gearing, a load brake and a cable-winding drum. The drum has an end with a splined annular member slidably engaging a similar splined annular member of a drum-concentric friction plate. The friction plate directly drives the drum during load raising and directly brakes the drum during load lowering. Because of the direct mechanical coupling between the drum and the friction plate, a failure in the gearing does not impair the ability of the friction plate to brake the load. Further details of the invention are set forth in the specification.

Included is a negative braking mechanism having a brake cylinder of the single-acting, spring-return type for normally holding the brake applied by the force of the spring and releasing the brake on fluid pressure actuation. A mode selector valve selectively delivers hydraulic fluid under pressure from two separate sources to the clutch and the brake cylinder in order to condition the winch for a selected one of winching, brake-locking, and free-fall modes. The mode selector valve causes the negative braking mechanism to release the brake in the free-fall mode, so that a positive braking mechanism is also provided to permit the operator to arrest the free fall of the load, or the free running-out of the cable, in an exact position desired.

  • Patent number: 4344587
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic motorized fishing reel which includes a frame and a spool rotatably coupled thereto for receiving and storing fishing line thereon. An electrical motor is coupled to the frame for rotating the spool in a direction for winding the fishing line onto the spool. The motor also induces a drag upon the rotation of the spool while the spool is unwinding. A clutch is operably interposed between the spool and the electrical motor for enabling the spool, when in a first condition, to rotate in the direction for unwinding the fishing line therefrom. When in a second condition the clutch provides positive engaging connection between the spool and the electrical motor for producing mutual corresponding rotation therebetween. The clutch switches between the first and second conditions responsive to a substantial torque differential exerted between the spool and the electrical motor.
