  • Patent number: 7857289
Abstract: The present invention discloses a tapered braking device for electric winches which disposes a section of gear shaft, a section of core shaft, a wedge shape support, braking plates, an elastic element, a wedge shape piece A, a wedge shape piece B, a braking clutch base and so on in a gear box of an electric winch. When a motor works, the section of core shaft of the motor can drive the braking clutch base and the wedge shape pieces A, B to rotate, until a gap is formed between the friction faces of the wedge shape support and the wedge shape piece B and the braking plates so that the braking action stops. When the motor suddenly stops, a heavy load lifted by a tight wire rope reel provides a reverse pulling force so that the wedge shape piece B produces a reverse thrust force to push the friction faces of the braking plates, so the braking effect is achieved quickly.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a plane braking device for electric winches and electric winch which disposes a section of hollow gear shaft, a section of core shaft, a fixing ring, a wedge shape support, a stopping piece, a braking plate, an elastic element, a wedge shape piece B, a wedge shape piece A, a braking clutch base and so on in a gear box of an electric winch. When a motor works, the section of core shaft of the motor drives the braking clutch base and the wedge shape pieces A, B to rotate, until a gap is formed between the adjacent braking plate and stopping piece between the braking clutch base and the wedge shape piece B, so that the braking effect disappears. When the motor stops suddenly, a heavy load lifted by a tight wire drum provides a reverse pulling force so that the wedge shape piece B produces a reverse thrust force to push the friction planes of the braking plate and the stopping piece, so the plane braking effect is achieved quickly.

  • Patent number: 7380770
Abstract: The hoist device mainly contains a gear assembly and a ratchet braking assembly. The gear assembly mainly contains a chain wheel driven by a main axle running through the ratchet braking assembly which mainly contains a ratchet wheel sandwiched between a pair of brake rings. The ratchet wheel, controlled by stopping blocks, can only turn in one direction. At an end of the main axle, there is a hexagonal cylindrical sleeve so that either an ordinary wrench or a power tool can be used to turn the main axle. As the main axle is turned to lift an object, the ratchet wheel clamped by the brake rings is turned as well. When the main axle is turned to the other direction, the brake rings release the ratchet wheel so that it will not prevent the chain wheel to lower the object.

  • Patent number: 7090055
Abstract: A boat lift braking system includes a threaded shaft driven by the boat lift motor. A torsion tube disposed about the shaft carries an interiorly threaded nut that interengages the peripheral threads of the shaft. A rotor is mounted to the nut adjacent a brake pad that is supported by a ratchet component. A pawl mechanism cooperates with the ratchet component for limiting rotation of the ratchet component in a first direction and permitting rotation of the ratchet component about the shaft in a second direction. The torsion tube is connected through a reduction apparatus to the winder of the boat lift. When the lift is at rest, a torsion spring drives the torsion tube and rotor against the brake pad and the ratchet component interlocks with the pawl mechanism to hold the lift at a desired elevation. When the motor is driven to lower the lift, the shaft is driven within the torsion tube such that the rotor momentarily disengages the pad.

  • Patent number: 5899441
Abstract: In an electric chain hoist, there is a slipping clutch in the drive line which connects the electric motor to the chain sprocket, the slipping clutch acting as an overload safeguard. A holding brake is also provided to hold the drive line in the braked state when the motor is switched off. The brake exerts its braking action primarily on that part of the drive line which lies between the slipping clutch and the chain sprocket. To prevent the slipping clutch from entering the slipping state when the motor is switched on before the brake has been released to a sufficient extent, the brake is designed in such a way that it acts on both parts of the drive line.

Abstract: A chain hoist contains a slipping overload clutch in the drive line which connects the electric motor to the chain sprocket. This slipping clutch has two clutch halves which are in frictional engagement with one another and are preloaded into frictional engagement with one another by a spring. A holding brake is furthermore provided and this holding brake acts against the clutch disks so as to increase the frictional grip between the clutch disks in the applied state. This ensures that when the hoist is started and the disengagement of the brake is delayed, the slipping clutch does not enter the slipping state.

  • Patent number: 4932602
Abstract: The apparatus spools a line carrying a weight for positioning a fishing lure at a desired depth in water for trolling. The apparatus has a motor which rotates a spool carrying the line supporting the weight. A brake automatically brakes the spool when the spool starts to unwind the line, which can occur when the motor is inoperative. Braking force on the spool can be finely adjusted to permit slipping and controlled unwinding, so that the line does not break should the weight become fouled or hung up on the bottom. Preferably, when winding up the weight, a clutch transmits torque between the motor and spool when the torque is below a slipping threshold torque. However, the clutch slips when the slipping threshold torque is exceeded and simultaneously generates an audible warning sound when slipping to protect the motor from overload if the weight becomes "hung up" when winding in. An alternative electrical circuit breaker can be substituted for the clutch to protect the motor.

There is further provided a frame extending from the center post for housing a second sprocket wheel, the two sprockets interconnected via a continuous link chain, so that rotation imparted onto the main sprocket imparts rotation to the secondary sprocket. The secondary sprocket is rotated in unison to a reel member housing a quantity of fishing line to be reeled in and out depending on rotation of the sprocket wheel. There is further provided a braking frictionally braking to the reel upon movement of the chain in a certain direction. • Patent number: 4344587
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic motorized fishing reel which includes a frame and a spool rotatably coupled thereto for receiving and storing fishing line thereon. An electrical motor is coupled to the frame for rotating the spool in a direction for winding the fishing line onto the spool. The motor also induces a drag upon the rotation of the spool while the spool is unwinding. A clutch is operably interposed between the spool and the electrical motor for enabling the spool, when in a first condition, to rotate in the direction for unwinding the fishing line therefrom. When in a second condition the clutch provides positive engaging connection between the spool and the electrical motor for producing mutual corresponding rotation therebetween. The clutch switches between the first and second conditions responsive to a substantial torque differential exerted between the spool and the electrical motor.
