Abstract: The self-clamping descender with pulley includes a first flange with a side wall defining a rope channel, a pulley fitted in rotary manner with respect to the first flange around a first axis of rotation, the pulley only rotating in a first direction of rotation around the first axis of rotation. The first axis of rotation is fitted movable with respect to the side wall of the first flange so as to define a first position and a second position presenting different distances with respect to the side wall of the first flange. Clamping of the pulley in the second direction of rotation results in movement of the first axis of rotation and pulley in the direction of the side wall of the first flange up to a threshold position.

Abstract: Improvements to a pulley is disclosed. The rope is threaded through the self-locking pulley in the desired direction. At some places, the threading passes the rope or strap in opposing directions to cause a binding and prevent free movement of the rope or strap in one direction. There are no one-way clutches or self-locking teeth to lock movement in a particular direction. A first part it secured to a spinning mount or ceiling so a user can walk around a suspended self-locking pulley and pull the rope or strap from any direction. The second part can pivot and move up-and-down on the first piece. A threaded member alters a frictional lock between the at least two interconnecting pieces. The interaction of the at least two pieces allows for lifting, locking and lowering of a load on the rope or strap.

  • Patent number: 10221918
Abstract: Embodiments of a rope tension device for cinching a load with a rope are disclosed. The rope tension device includes a frame and brake member. The frame includes a first rail and a second rail with a bracing structure extending between the first rail and the second rail such that the bracing structure defines an arcuate surface. The brake member is pivotably coupled to the frame. Further, the brake member defines a brake surface such that the brake surface is biased with a spring member toward the arcuate surface, the brake surface defining an axially extending concave feature that faces the arcuate surface of the bracing structure. With this arrangement, a gap defined between the arcuate surface and the axially extending concave feature varies in height along an axial width defined between the first and second rails so as to receive the rope within the gap for cinching the load.

The pulley is adapted to sit above a single descent cable. An enclosure is suspended from the device. Disposed along at least one surface of each of the rotors or of the corresponding frames or both, is a series of magnets such that rotation of the rotors relative to the frames induces eddy currents that oppose the magnetic field and create a rotational braking force providing precise and controllable descent of the enclosure with little or no mechanical wear or risk of overheating. In this configuration, constraints on the size of the enclosure are dispensed with, as are corresponding limitations on the positioning and angle of descent of the cable. Further, significant labor and material savings in manufacturing the enclosure may be obtained from the resulting simplicity of design.

Abstract: A collapsible access tower has a chassis 10 supporting a pair of road wheels 11 and outriggers 16,17 to impart stability when in use, and a pair of extensible multi-section columns 26,50 carrying a platform 35. A section 27 of one column 26 is rigidly connected to the chassis and another section 33 of that column to the platform 35. The other column is configured as an extendible ladder 50 one section 51 of which is hinged to the chassis 10 and another section 52 of which is hinged to the platform 35. When the platform is in its lowermost setting, the hinged connections of the two sections 51,52 of the ladder 50 are co-axial so that the ladder may be pivoted to a transit setting. A winch arrangement 39 is associated with column 26 to allow raising and lowering of the platform 35.

  • Patent number: 7111572
Abstract: A hook seat tightening structure for ship covers comprises a body constituted by a seat and a housing, wherein two rollers, one turntable, one wheel, one lock bolt, and one lock member are located therein. A depressing piece and a tenon are located at two sides of the lock bolt respectively. The lock bolt can be rotated and elastically restored by the tenon, which is connected with a spring. The depressing piece is pressed against one-way ratchets on the turntable, and the lock bolt can be rotated subject to a control by a key. A rope enters and is reeved on the turntable and wheel, to constitute a tightening device permitting a one-way gliding of the rope. Accordingly, when the lock member is locked by rotating the key, the tenon on the lock member can be latched on the depressing piece of the lock bolt, thereby achieving a locking function.
