Attached To Trailer Tongue Patents (Class 254/420)
  • Patent number: 4799648
Abstract: An improved trailer jack has a castor structure enabling use of a full size spare trailer wheel and tire on the jack; the jack has a gear box mechanism, a lift post drivable up and down by the gearbox, and a lift element pivotally journaled inside the post; the lift element has an offset structure which raises the spare axle axis up to a level above the bottom of the post and the axle is spaced to one side so that when the full size spare wheel and tire is used, it pulls up into a locked storage position above and alongside on the trailer tongue, when the spare is down, it swivels completely around under the tongue and around the lift post. The trailer is much easier to manually manipulate in a garage or driveway. An improved lift assembly with a unique swiveling lift member having both a trailing offset and transverse offset is utilized.

  • Patent number: 4702458
Abstract: A jacking apparatus having a quick release mechanism for disengaging the main shaft of the jack from the jacking gear to allow the main shaft to be selectively raised and lowered as desired without operating the jacking gear. The main shaft has a plurality of teeth disposed thereon in facing relationship with the jacking gear, which is preferably a worm gear mechanism. A stop bar is disposed between the shaft and the jack housing to hold the shaft in alignment with the worm gear mechanism when it is desired to operate the jacking gear. A spring-biased pin member extends through a diagonal slot disposed in the jack housing to engage the stop bar. When it is desired to disengage the shaft teeth from the jacking gear teeth, the user exerts upward pressure on the pin member to move the pin member and stop bar diagonally upward along the axis of the slot, thereby retracting the stop bar from the shaft and allowing the shaft to be rotated to disengage the shaft teeth from the jacking gear teeth.

  • Patent number: 4662610
Abstract: A jack stand or support for a trailer jack having a vertically extending housing and an extensible plunger telescopically contained by the depending end of the jack housing includes an upright member mounted on a flat base. A sleeve-like socket, in which the upper end of the upright member is telescopically received, is secured to the depending end of the jack plunger. The socket member is pivotally mounted in elongated slots formed in parallel strap members secured to the upright member for a lateral pivoting movement of the jack stand to a stored travel position by rollers on the strap members contacting forwardly and rearwardly extending arcuate tracks, mounted on the jack housing, during retracting movement of the plunger into the housing.

  • Patent number: 4635904
Abstract: A leveling jack mounted on the frame of a vehicle with a horizontal stowed position and a vertical actuated position, including, a pair of telescoping tubular members, telescoping between open and closed position, a ball screw actuator including a ball member and a screw member supported within the tubular members and with one of the tubular members attached to the ball member for producing telescope movement of the one tubular member relative to the other tubular member in accordance with longitudinal movement of the ball member, a drive spindle coupled to the screw member for providing rotational movement of the screw member to produce longitudinal movement of the ball member, a motor and associated gear train coupled to the drive spindle and with the gear train providing a substantial reduction of speed of rotation of the drive spindle, an outer housing for mounting on the frame of the vehicle and with the tubular members, ballscrew actuator, drive spindle and motor and gear train forming a pivotable porti

  • Patent number: 4623125
Abstract: A jack support for rotatably supporting a jack between the support position and a stored position. The jack support has two brackets with one bracket welded to an outer housing of the jack and a second bracket mounted onto the tongue portion of a trailer. The second bracket attached to the trailer has two lugs that extend therefrom. The first bracket welded to the jack has a slot and a notch therethrough which interconnect with the two lugs. The first bracket can pivot between a support position and a stored position. A spring biased pin is mounted to the first bracket and can be received within one of two holes in the second bracket to fix the support in either the stored or support position.

  • Patent number: 4605086
Abstract: A lifting and maneuvering device for motor vehicles is disclosed, including an auxiliary wheel assembly mounted adjacent to the front and/or the rear wheels of the vehicle. Vertical drive means raise and lower the auxiliary wheel assembly from retracted position to an operative extended position in which the front and/or rear wheels are lifted off the vehicle supporting surface. The orientation of the auxiliary wheel assembly is adjustable to permit driving of the wheel assembly in a manner which will rotate the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4537416
Abstract: A trailer hitch alignment device comprising an upwardly directed generally arcuate cradle with a vertically elongated tubular socket pivotally mounted therein. The socket receives the lower end of a trailer jack shaft. A locking pin selectively locks the socket to the cradle to preclude relative movement therebetween. Removal of the lock pin allows a rocking of the cradle and a corresponding shifting of the jack shaft and associated trailer. The cradle includes multiple upwardly directed handle receiving pockets.

  • Patent number: 4441693
Abstract: A removeable base plate accessory member for the support jack leg on a trailer hitch providing a flat base stand for a trailer when the trailer is being parked and left in a particular area. The base plate member is easily attachable to or detachable from the support leg and may be adjusted to vary the relative height or distance between the accessory's base plate and its attachment connector leg used to attach the base plate to the support leg of the standard type jack found on most trailer hitches. The preferred connector (FIGS. 2 and 3) includes a pipe section with a bottom plate welded to it with a centrally located opening with a nut welded to the bottom plate, with the base plate member having a vertically extending centrally located threaded stud threadably engaging the nut.

  • Patent number: 4431208
Abstract: Recreation and work-type trailers are difficult to maneuver once detached from the towing vehicle even with the conventional dolley wheel in place. This device includes a horizontal main bar with a pair of plates one at each end being mounted to the underside of the main bar by a bolt and spring loaded to give a limited flexibility thereto. A central socket is pivoted to the upper side of the main bar and receives the stem of the trailer hitch. A handle socket is secured adjacent each end of the main bar also on the upper surface thereof and incline upwardly and outwardly therefrom and selectively receive an elongated handle so that the respective end of the main bar can be elevated by the handle and "walked" forwardly or backwardly or sideways as desired thus maneuvering the trailer readily and easily.
