Antifriction Means For Cable Pulling Drum Patents (Class 254/901)
  • Patent number: 7353913
Abstract: A elevator hoisting machine is provided with a stator mounting portion at which a stator core of a motor is mounted to a surface of a side opposite to a sheave in a sheave rotation centerline direction of the hoisting machine. A hat shape fixed frame member in which the stator mounting portion and a fixed main shaft that supports rotation of a rotor through a bearing are integrated. The elevator hoisting machine is characterized in that a brake device in which an inner radial surface of a cylindrical rotor mounting portion forms a braking surface. A motor is characterized in that the width of a magnet constituting a rotor is larger than the width of the stator core. The elevator hoisting machine is provided with the motor.

Abstract: A hoist machine is provided for an elevator system that includes an elevator car and a rope, connected to the elevator car and by which the elevator car is hoisted. The output shaft of the machine motor carries a traction sheave for frictionally engaging and moving the rope, and at least two bearings support and guide the output shaft. When viewed axially, the profile of the traction sheave can be circumscribed by a profile of the bearings. The traction sheave and the output shaft can be of integral, unitary construction. The machine can also include a unitary bearing frame, having a pair of openings aligned with one another for respectively receiving and supporting one of the bearings. During assembly, the traction sheave can be inserted through one of the openings of the bearing frame.

Abstract: An axial support of a winding drum, i.e. a support in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the winding drum, in a hoisting apparatus comprising a frame, a grooved winding drum supported substantially perpendicular to its longitudinal axis against the frame by bearings, a hoisting rope and machinery. The winding drum comprises at least one axial support element and the frame comprises at least another axial support element, and at least either the axial support element of the winding drum or the axial support element of the frame substantially extends round the circumference of the winding drum. The axial support element of the winding drum and the axial support element of the frame are arranged in respect of each other such that the movement of the winding drum in the direction of its longitudinal axis, which is caused by the axial component of the rope force of the hoisting rope, is hindered at least in one direction.

  • Patent number: 4488708
Abstract: A draw works comprises a drum shaft which is supported off a base at spaced locations by four bearings. Each of the locations is adjacent a support side plate connected to support members of the base. The support members extend transversely to the drum shaft. Two of the support side plates are located on one side of a drum associated with the drum shaft, and two other support side plates are associated with the drum shaft on the other side of the drum. Disposed between the first two support side plates on one side of the drum is a mechanism for receiving a first power input, and disposed between the second two support side plates is another mechanism for receiving a second power input. Transmission mechanisms for coupling the power inputs to the drum shaft are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4449697
Abstract: A multiple drum winch is driven by epicyclic differential gearing. One drum (1) rotates with the planet carrier (29, 55) and another drum (2) rotates with the annulus (35, 59) to which it is directly geared, the input being to the sun (27, 53), possibly via reduction gearing (50, 51). The epicyclic can be housed within one of the drums (1). The gear ratios are selectable to achieve a balance between the power requirements of the drums. The drums are journalled only at intermediate zones (22, 23) spanning the centroid of the expected load.

  • Patent number: 4244561
Abstract: An improved airborne hoist for use in lifting a load, particularly by means f a helicopter, comprising a pair of rotatable drums, each drum being rotatable in an opposite direction, a drive unit intergeared through a series of shafts for providing rotation to the drums, a cable holding device, in the configuration of a supplemental drum surrounding each of the first said drums, and each cable holding device provided for rotating simultaneously in unison with the rotation of its respective drum, while at the same time being axially shiftable for providing a winding or unwinding of its held cable from a constant location. The pair of drums each hold, respectively, its own cable, thereby providing a pair of cables that furnishes an inherent safety factor in that a single mechanical failure of a drum does not result in a loss of its held load.

  • Patent number: 4240612
Abstract: The present winch may be a so-called single speed or double speed winch. The rope, which loops around a clamping roller with a looping angle smaller than 360.degree., is operated by at least one power system controlled by a control system through a spring clutch. The control system can close the spring clutch for full power transmission or open the spring clutch completely to interrupt the power train from the power system to the clamping roller. In addition the clutch may be opened partially to control the power transmission for precisely rotating the clamping roller in both rotational directions and stopping the clamping roller in any desired angular position.
