Patent number: 8820713Abstract: An automatic extensible telescopic apparatus includes an internal tube inserted in an external tube. A positioning unit includes a ferrule, two fins, an axle, a toothed wheel and a first detent. The ferrule is provided on the external tube. The fins extend from the ferrule. The axle is supported on the fins. The toothed wheel is supported on the axle and includes teeth for insertion in recesses defined in the internal tube. The first detent is supported on the fins for engagement with the toothed wheel. A handle includes two leaves and a second detent. The leaves are placed between the fins and supported on the axle. The second detent is supported on the leaves for engagement with the toothed wheel. An extending unit is connected to the axle so that the extending unit rotates the toothed wheel via the axle, thus extending the internal tube from the external tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Inventor: Han-Ching Huang

Patent number: 8740190Abstract: A support assembly includes a frame, a first ratchet, a second ratchet, a lift structure, a bridge member, and a saddle. Each of the first and second ratchets includes a linear rack attached to first and second side members of the frame, and a slide structure slideably mounted with one of the side members. Each slide structure includes a pawl that successively engages with teeth in the linear rack as the lift structure of the support assembly is extended upwardly and as the slide structure slides along the linear rack. The support assembly may be a jack stand that is co-located with a vehicle jack. A head of the vehicle jack pushes against a bottom surface of the bridge member of the jack stand to cause the lift structure to extend upwardly and the ratchet systems to engage in a locked position to hold a vehicle in a raised position.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2012Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Inventor: Raul Tijerina

Patent number: 7900890Abstract: In a worm-rack type transmission device (1), a curved side portion (6) is provided on rack teeth (2a) of a linear rack (2) in a manner to form a part of an ellipsoidal surface (E) and twisted by a changing rate (?) of a torsional manner a toothed streak (5) of a worm wheel (3). The worm wheel (3) brings the toothed streak (5) into engagement with the curved side portion (6) in a line-to-line contact, enabling to a self-locking property and strengthening a transmission power to insure a high transmission efficiency with a least friction loss so as effectuate a linear drive for an extended distance travel with a high precision.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2009Date of Patent: March 8, 2011Assignee: Kamoseiko Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kenji Imase

Patent number: 4848735Abstract: A tongue mounted rack and pinion jack for a trailer wherein a pair of die-cast gear box segments are bolted together for supporting a handle driven worm gear and a pinion gear in self-contained bearing surfaces formed in the gear box segments. When the gear box segments are secured together a gear box, a rack receiving passage and a leg receiving passage are formed therein. A common wall formed in the molded gear box segments separates the gear box from the rack receiving passage and has a window formed therein through which teeth on a pinion gear extend into the rack receiving passage and engage teeth on a rack extending longitudinally through the rack receiving passage and secured to a leg extending through the leg receiving passage.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1987Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Inventor: Jerry W. Patent number: 4090367Abstract: An offshore drilling platform with vertically movable legs comprises a buoyant body and a plurality of legs for supporting the body on the sea floor at an elevation above the water level. To permit floating the body for transportation, the legs are selectively vertically movable relative to the body; and in the present invention, this is effected by providing vertical racks on the legs that engage with power-driven pinions carried by the body. The pinion drive has two free-wheel devices, one which free wheels in one direction, and the other which free wheels in the other direction.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1976Date of Patent: May 23, 1978Inventor: Pietrus J.
