Platform Type Patents (Class 254/9C)
  • Patent number: 5695173
Abstract: A lift platform sustained through a double system of support scissors in its lower part, which offers the mechanical upward and downward motion in a vertical plane and on a base frame, which in its turn is activated by a hydraulic mechanism. The lift platform is characterized because it also includes a hydraulic unit which operates electronically to automatically control the desired position in its upward or downward motion originated by the movement of the mobile arms of the scissors on a track in the horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 5419534
Abstract: A device for opening a scissor-type jack with paired cross-bars, the device having a chamber of variable volume connected to fluid inlet and outlet provided by end plates to which two cover plates are fixed. The first cover plate has two flanges disposed on the opposite sides of the cover plate and extending to a second cover plate and are connected for rotation of the first cover plate to the cross-bars. The second cover plate has two flanges. The distance between the two flanges is smaller than the distance between the flanges of the first cover plate and the flanges of the first cover plate are coaxially connected for rotation to the inside surface of the outer cross-bars, while the flanges of the second cover plate are coaxially connected for rotation to the inside surface of the inside cross-bars. In this way the axis of the rotary connection of the two cover plates to the cross-bars, intersects a line joining the centroids of the two end plates.

  • Patent number: 5340082
Abstract: A portable surface lift for a vehicle and a pair of manually retractable wheels respectively attached to a mid-portion of opposite sides of the lift for rolling the lift over a garage floor surface when the vehicle is not lifted on the lift. The lift has fixed pads for contact with the undercarriage of the vehicle, and a hydraulic cylinder raises and lowers the vehicle on the lift. Arms are pivotally attached to opposite sides of the lift with a wheel at the end thereof for manual movement between a wheel-retracted position and a wheel-extended position. The wheels remain in the extended position by an over-center pivoting design. Two towing mechanisms are provided for moving the lift: a towing bar that can be attached to a towing bracket on an end of the lift, or a wheeled towing dolly having a clevis and securing pin for attachment to the towing bracket. The lift has a safety locking mechanism for securing the lift in various raised positions.

  • Patent number: 4792272
Abstract: A container handling apparatus having a pair of side frames and a cross frame. The apparatus also has four lift mechanisms for attachment to a container. Each lift mechanism is mounted on one end of a secondary lift arm. Four primary lift arms are connected to the side frames and to the midpoint of each of the secondary lift arms. A cam follower on the lower end of each secondary lift arm follows a cam horizontally along one of the side frames. Hydraulic cylinders rotate the primary lift arms about a pivot connection to the side frames. This causes the upper ends of the secondary lift arms to move vertically to raise and lower the lift mechanisms and the container. Transducers connected between the primary arms and the side frames equalize the amount of rotation of each of the primary lift arms and automatically keep the positions of the four lift mechanisms at the same height.

  • Patent number: 4741576
Abstract: A hoist mechanism is provided that includes a first and a second lifting arm connected at a first pivot point, a hydraulic cylinder connected to said lifting arms, and a stop located on one end of the second lifting arm. During the initial lifting of the hoist mechanism the first arm remains stationary as the second lifting arm rotates around the first pivot point. The hoist mechanism functions in this manner until the two lifting arms reach a predetermined angle with each other. When the lifting arms reach this angle, the stop acts to convert the action of the hoist mechanism into that resembling a scissors hoist, with both lifting arms rotating, as the hoist mechanism is further extended. The hoist mechanism is designed such that the effective length of the second lifting arm is constantly increasing as the second lifting arm rotates from the rest position to the predetermined angle.
