Patent number: 7880612Abstract: The invention comprises of a method and alarm device used to prevent metal theft from irrigation systems. The alarm device attaches to a plurality of electric conductor such as copper wiring that is in need of protecting and the preexisting irrigation system circuit. The alarm device detects voltage in the irrigation system circuit and if there is no voltage signals from the irrigation system circuit, then the alarm device automatically breaks the original circuit and inserts itself into the irrigation system circuit. The alarm device then sends a low voltage, low current down the plurality of electric conductors and the plurality of conductors then become part of a circuit that energizes a magnetic switch located in the alarm device. A breach of integrity of the plurality of conductors such as by physical detachment triggers an alarm condition which lead to audio and visual alarms plus activating an automated dialer.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2008Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Inventor: Gary Caswell

Patent number: 5852402Abstract: A taut wire fence system comprises wire-supporting anchor posts that maintain the taut wires of the system in tension. Sensor posts having tension sensors mounted therein are positioned between pairs of anchor posts to monitor changes in tension caused by intrusion attempts. To protect against attempts to bypass the tension sensors (such as by cutting the taut wires while using a frame device to maintain wire tension), one or more tensioned cable segments are provided in tension between the anchor posts (preferably along the lower portion of the fence) to form an electrical path. An electrical monitoring device is then used to monitor the continuity of the electrical path. The tensioned cable segments are preferably formed from a special cable that includes an outer layer which forms a physical barrier to cutting.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1998Date of Patent: December 22, 1998Assignee: Safeguards technology, inc.Inventor: Haim Perry

Patent number: 5788223Abstract: An improved animal barrier material and an improved fastening system to simplify its knotting process are disclosed. The animal barrier material comprises a see-through cable netting characterized by strong and secure knots. An improved fastening system may be employed to simplify knotting and produce superior cable connections. The improved fastening system requires only a single spool of cable to form grids for netting; its simplified knotting process does not require passing a spool of cable through any previously-tied portion of the net. The resulting cable netting provides a superior see-through netting for simultaneous containment and visual enjoyment of zoo animals.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1996Date of Patent: August 4, 1998Assignee: Arizona Sonora Desert MuseumInventor: Kenneth A. Patent number: 4031284Abstract: Fence fabric formed of a multiplicity of entwining electrically conductive metal wire cores each coated with a heat disintegrable electrical insulation is rendered susceptible to grounding by disposing each of said metal cores in contact with at least one electrically conductive ground element. To produce this product, one or more of the foregoing conductive elements is placed in permanent contact with each coated wire of the fence fabric and sufficient current passed through said conductive element to disintegrate the insulation coating and provide an electrically conductive path between the metal core of each of said wires and said electrical conductor.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1975Date of Patent: June 21, 1977Assignee: Colorguard CorporationInventor: Glen E.
