Stretcher Patents (Class 256/37)
  • Patent number: 4129285
Abstract: A chain for binding logs on a transport platform may be fabricated from a plurality of sequentially connected generally planar links, each link having laterally directed, log-penetrating extensions mounted to its external sides and having an elongated member with two log-penetrating ends rigidly mounted between the sides of the link normal to the plane of the link. A combination of the chain with an over-center binder attached to said chain and having a chain-engageable first end is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4092024
Abstract: An elongate support post is held in an upright position by the lower end thereof which is detachably received in a socket extending subterraneously from the surface of a game court. The support member has a channel at the top thereof which receives the uppermost rope of the net and conducts it to the other side of the member. A rope guide transmits the rope back through the support member to operatively adjustable straining means. Stop means carried by the support member abut the playing surface to provide a predetermined net height.

  • Patent number: 3990682
Abstract: A tool for stretching barbed wire fencing to a fence post includes a wooden arm and a pivotly mounted wooden lever having metal jaws secured thereto in opposed relationship. The jaws have integral planar tongues positioned in stacked relationship between the arm and the lever. A pivot pin passes through the arm, lever and tongues. One edge of the arm has a concave surface covered with a sheet metal facing for engagement against the fence post.

  • Patent number: 3968528
Abstract: A bedstead is disclosed including crossheads between which a woven mat support is stretched. The mat is made of spring steel wire, preferably plastic coated and includes longitudinal wire members having U-shaped ends. Hook rails are carried by the crossheads and have adjacent recesses between which they define V-shaped hook members. One of the hook rails is adjustable so as to tension the mat support. A U-shaped clamping bar is provided into which the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members are fitted. A resilient intermediate layer is positioned between the clamping bar and the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members. The clamping bar is positioned in the V-shaped hook members of the adjustable hook rail such that a clamping force is exerted on the U-shaped ends of the longitudinal wire members by the clamping bar in proportion to tension force applied to the mat support by the adjustable hook rail.

  • Patent number: 3963219
Abstract: An improved fence of aluminum, sheet metal or other resilient material construction requiring reduced construction time and reduced maintenance time while providing a rigid barrier which permits ventilation therethrough. The fence is constructed preferably of aluminum or enamelized sheet metal, the fence panels being unitary and continuous from terminal end posts of the fence, the fence having a plurality of intermediate supporting posts disposed between its ends, the intermediate posts having parallel, lateral side slots sized to receive and rigidly and firmly support the continuous panels therethrough, the posts being firmly anchored in the earth. The fence terminal posts also provide for the panels to be stretched, wrapped around, and fixed to the terminal posts providing a rigid terminal connection for the panels with reduced construction time.

  • Patent number: 3961789
Abstract: A net tightener is provided that includes a member mounted on a vertically disposed post, and wherein a bracket has a pin for selectively engaging slots in a bar that is pivotally connected to the unit. The member includes a collar encircling a post and being fixed thereon; attached to the collar is a pair of horizontally extending, spaced apart arms having pivotally attached to their outer ends an elongated lever bar. The lever bar is provided with a plurality of slots along its lower edge. A substantially U-shaped yoke is provided for attachment between the end of a net holding cable and the lever bar. A hook element is provided at the bight portion of the U-shaped yoke for attaching the yoke to the cable and a pin is provided at the opposite end of the yoke for selectively attaching the yoke along the lever bar at the slots for varying the tension in the cable as the lever bar is pivoted on the arms.

  • Patent number: 3931965
Abstract: A post for supporting tennis nets, volley ball nets and other nets of similar purpose that provides a maximum safety advantage to the players of said games, yet offering a device of strict simplicity comprising a minimum of movable parts and which strongly resists bending or breakage under high tension, shear, or compression loadings. The game net support post is telescopically insertable and removably placed in a support surface socket, the post being substantially rectangular in cross-section. Placed near the lower end of the post is a transverse bolt for limiting downward movement of the post within the socket. The upper end of the post is provided with a transverse recessed trough. The trough is extended across the upper horizontal surface and a short distance down one of the sides of the post. Attached to the side of the post is an elongated turnbuckle. The turnbuckle has one of its ends attached to the side of the post on which the trough extends.
