Publication number: 20090133180Abstract: Disclosed is a sheet processing apparatus 1 having a pair of rolls 2 and 3 with teeth on their periphery in engagement with each other. The rolls are adapted to have a sheet 10 introduced into the nip thereof while rotating to process the sheet 10. The teeth 20 (30) of the roll 2 (3) have a pitch of 1.0 to 5.0 mm, a tooth thickness of less than a half the pitch, and a tooth height equal to or more than the pitch. The depth of engagement between the teeth 20 of the roll 2 and the teeth 30 of the roll 3 is preferably 1.0 mm up to the tooth height.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2006Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: Shinnosuke Morita, Kenji Ando

Patent number: 6205369Abstract: A roll sensing system for measuring the pressure distribution and nip width in a nip roll press. The sensing system comprises a strip having sensors thereon, the strip being placed in a nip press, for sensing the pressure at several locations therealong. At one end of the strip lies electronics associated with the sensors. The electronics communicate with an optional multiplexer and a bidirectional transmitter for signal transmission to an external signal conditioner and an external computer. The computer determines pressure values and nip width values at various locations along the strip, and communicates with a display which provides a visual, graphical and/or numerical data to the operator. Optionally, a control system can be in communication with the transmitter or the computer to initiate crown corrections in response to pressure or nip width readings.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1999Date of Patent: March 20, 2001Assignee: SW Paper, Inc.Inventor: Robert H. Patent number: 6070620Abstract: The bar type temple (2) consists substantially of a bar carrier (23), a working bar (3) and at least one sliding bar (41). The working bar and the sliding bar are arranged parallel to one another in the bar carrier. The bar type temple has the advantage that the clamping of the web is low without the maintenance of the width of the web being impaired.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1998Date of Patent: June 6, 2000Assignee: Sulzer Rueti AGInventor: Klemens Wiemeler

Patent number: 5191686Abstract: Lengthwise stretching machines for thermoplastic synthetic films are equipped with mechanical or opto-electrical devices for detecting a tearing of the film or an accumulation of film on the stretching rollers and for stopping the machine when tearing or accumulation occurs, to protect the stretching rollers. Unallowable loads and possible damage to the roller bearings are avoided by mounting the bearing housings (1, 2) of each roller (3, 4, 5) of a lower roller (7) in the machine frame for cooperation with a force generating device (8) which presses the respective bearing housing (1, 2) toward oppositely located rollers (9, 10, 11) of an upper roller group (12) to an extent permitted by stops (14, 15) rigidly arranged on the machine frame (13). The rollers (3, 4, 5) of the lower group received in the bearing housing (1, 2) can overcome the pressing force of the device (8) to slide in a yielding direction away from the upper rollers, when a roller accumulates film thereon.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1991Date of Patent: March 9, 1993Assignee: Lindauer Dornier GmbHInventors: Hans-Juergen Maierhofer, Willi Eberle, Adolf Mueller

Patent number: 4972560Abstract: An apparatus for a tenter frame feeds a fabric web to the nip region of vertical pins and cooperating rollers of a pair of endless belt assemblies which transport the web through a drying chamber. The apparatus includes a guide member which guides the web into the nip at a relatively steep angle, preferably in the range of +.degree. to 60.degree.. The guide member can be supported on a pair of swivel supports, each of the swivel supports being movably supported on one of the endless belt assemblies. Additionally the guide member can be a roller rotatable about its axial length which can be rotated in synchronization with the feed of the web.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1988Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: A. Monforts GmbH & Co.Inventor: Gottfried Baum

Patent number: 4381587Abstract: An apparatus comprising a fixed roller and a movable roller movable toward and away from the fixed roller to correct the deviation of a travelling fabric by nipping a selvage thereof with the two rollers. The movable roller is biased by a spring toward the fixed roller for nipping the fabric but is normally held away from the fixed roller by a forward stroke of a cylinder against the action of the spring. The spring is provided with a member for adjusting the spring force, and the stroke of the cylinder is also adjustable. The axis of the movable roller is slightly shiftable automatically relative to the fixed roller to assure proper nipping engagement with the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1980Date of Patent: May 3, 1983Inventor: Hideyuki Cho

Patent number: 4201132Abstract: A broad textile web, on its way to a processing station such as a rotary-screen printer, passes around a set of closely juxtaposed but independently rotatable feed rollers that are individually driven via respective differential gear trains each having a first input connected to a common drive shaft and a second input connected to an ancillary stepping motor. Each feed roller engages a strip zone of the web which is scanned by an associated sensor upstream of the roller, the latter detecting the leading and trailing edges of recurrent transverse web sections--e.g. of pile fabric--mechanically, electrically or optically distinguishable from intervening sections. Unequal longitudinal tensions in the several strip zones actuate the sensor-controlled stepping motors for different time periods so as to cancel any relative deformation.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1978Date of Patent: May 6, 1980Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Peter Zimmer AktiengesellschaftInventors: Peter Zimmer, Hans Kudlich

Patent number: 4097973Abstract: An apparatus comprises guide means including a stationary roller and a movable roller opposed to the stationary roller and movable toward or away therefrom to nip a selvage of the fabric between the rollers when required to correct deviation of the fabric, and unfolding and spreading means including at least three screw rollers arranged side by side at the feed side of the guide means and along the direction of travel of the fabric. Each of the screw rollers is rotatable by a motor in the direction of unfolding and spreading the fabric, at least one of the screw rollers other than the screw rollers at the opposite sides thereof being pivotally movable toward or away from the surface of the fabric. The stationary roller of the guide means includes a roller main body and a shaft rotatable by the motor in the same direction as the direction of travel of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1977Date of Patent: July 4, 1978Inventor: Hideyuki Cho
