Abstract: Intumescent coatings which form a thick, uniform, fine celled, low density foam upon exposure to a high intensity heat flux or flame are disclosed, the invention coatings comprise phenolic resin prepolymer containing a blowing agent and a nucleating agent; in the preferred embodiments the coatings also contains a silicone surfactant, the coatings are useful in thermal and fire protection systems.
Abstract: A paint composition comprising a powder paint uniformly dispersed in an aqueous solution of a water soluble carboxylated resin. Use is made of a powder paint having a mean particle size of 1-100 microns and preferably comprising a thermosetting resin as the vehicle. This paint composition contains no surfactant but, nevertheless, features high stability of the dispersion phase and can provide paint films of excellent resistance to water. This paint composition may utilize recovered waste powder paint, i.e. a mixture of differently colored powder paints, preferably with the addition of a black pigment such as carbon black.
Abstract: A molding having a grain resembling a natural material such as wood, stone and the like and a method for producing the same are disclosed. The molding is made of a mixture of a colored polyphenyleneoxide resin and a thermoplastic resin. The polyphenyleneoxide resin has a low fluidity to form patterns, while the thermoplastic resin has a high fluidity to form a body.
Abstract: The present invention relates to blowing agent compositions, to foamable thermoplastic compositions, to a process for preparing articles obtained by foaming such compositions, and to the articles obtained by such a process.
