Abstract: A gas carburettor suitable for mounting on a petrol carburettor of a combustion engine and intended for mixing a gas with air and for supplying the mixture of air and gas to the combustion engine. The gas carburettor comprises a housing having a centrally arranged passage bounded by a wall of the housing. The wall bounding the passage has an opening therethrough for supplying gas to the passage. A member is disposed in the passage such that an annular airway is defined between the housing and the member.
Abstract: An auxiliary fuel metering and transfer control system for an internal combustion engine. The system consists essentially of a pressure vessel for storage of propane, methane, natural gas or a similar gaseous fuel, a pressure regulator for maintaining constant gaseous fuel pressure during operation of the system, a solenoid valve and a magnetic reset safety switch, a metering valve, a transfer valve and an auxiliary fuel nozzle positioned in the Venturi of the carburetor on the engine using the system. The metering valve operates in response to changes in the intake manifold vacuum of the engine and changes in the air velocity in the carburetor of the engine. The transfer valve operates in response to movement of the throttle linkage on the carburetor of the engine. During operation of the engine, the system is substituted for both the idle circuit or system and the acceleration circuit or system of the carburetor.
Abstract: A fuel metering device for an internal combustion engine, and in which a metering needle, common to a liquid and gaseous fuel chambers having respective inlets for communication with a respective source of liquid and gaseous fuel for the engine, extends between the outlet of the liquid fuel chamber and one of the inlet and the outlet of the gaseous fuel chamber and has thereat a respective valving member adapted for controlling the volume of fuel metered to the engine induction system; and an engine having such device incorporated in the fuel induction system thereof.

Abstract: In an integrated coal gasification power plant, a humidifier is provided for transferring as vapor, from the aqueous blowdown liquid into relatively dry air, both (I) at least a portion of the water contained in the aqueous liquid and (II) at least a portion of the volatile hydrocarbons therein. The resulting humidified air is advantageously employed as at least a portion of the hot air and water vapor included in the blast gas supplied via a boost compressor to the gasifier.
Abstract: A fuel vaporization system for hydrocarbon users, such as internal combustion engines, gas turbines and the like wherein the prior art gas generating and carburetor functions are accomplished in a novel chamber or fuel generator with additional benefits afforded through the use of controlled amounts of hydrogen.
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for drying odoriferous organic substances wherein the substances are introduced into a ring-shaped piping system via a turbulence mechanism in which the substances are comminuted and thereafter circulated through the piping system and dried by a heated air flow produced by a heater and a blower. Air flow containing the dried substances is discharged from the piping system and passed over a separation system where the dried substances are separated from the humid odoriferous air flow. The air flow withdrawn from the piping system is introduced into a sprinkling bed where a chemical reaction takes place to deodorize the air flow.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine, especially Otto engine, which utilizes fuel gas supplied in a low-temperature liquefied state for the combustion process. Heat exchange means are provided for effecting a heat exchange between the intake combustion air and the fuel gas such that the combustion air is cooled down prior to combustion by its use as a heat-emitting heat-exchanging medium for preheating the low-temperature liquefied fuel gas. In one preferred embodiment, the heat exchange means is a mixing carburetor arranged upstream of the engine combustion chamber and in another preferred embodiment of the invention, the heat exchanger means is a non-contact heat exchanger for effecting heat transfer without mixing of the combustion air and fuel gas.
Abstract: A human conveyance having a toilet and a fuel burning engine is provided with an arrangement for converting waste from the toilet to a combustible gas and for feeding the gas to the engine where it is burned as a fuel additive to increase the gas mileage of the conveyance.

Abstract: Glycerol dichlorohydrin is prepared by dissolving allyl chloride vapor in an upwardly flowing aqueous stream, dissolving chlorine gas in a separate second upwardly flowing aqueous stream to form a hypochlorous acid solution, mixing the two streams and flowing them downwardly in a reaction column where they react to form glycerol dichlorohydrin.
