Liquid is infused into the interior region by way of the liquid inlet, and gas is injected through at least one gas inlet into the interior region, with the liquid and gas passing through each of the packing rings in countercurrent flow.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2010Publication date: December 15, 2011Applicant: Chevron U.S.A. Patent number: 8062610Abstract: For analysis of small quatities of target analytes in an environment, the gas flow can be delivered to a suitably fast analyzer and their concentration determined in a time period whose duration is dependent on the analyte, its concentration and the phase separation properties. A device having a sorbent bed that is essentially concentric with a passage way containing thermal fluid is used to concentrate the target analyte.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2006Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: The United States of America as represented by Environmental Protection AgencyInventors: Brian K. Patent number: 8021539Abstract: A method for hydrodesulfurization by forming a dispersion comprising hydrogen-containing gas bubbles with a mean diameter of less than 1 micron dispersed in a liquid phase comprising sulfur-containing compounds. Desulfurizing a liquid stream comprising sulfur-containing compounds by subjecting a fluid mixture comprising hydrogen-containing gas and the liquid to a shear rate greater than 20,000 s?1 to produce a dispersion of hydrogen in a continuous phase of the liquid and introducing the dispersion into a fixed bed hydrodesulfurization reactor from which a reactor product is removed. Systems of apparatus for hydrodesulfurization are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2008Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: H R D CorporationInventors: Abbas Hassan, Ebrahim Bagherzadeh, Rayford G. Patent number: 7785743Abstract: The present invention discloses methods and devices for humidifying the proton exchange membranes of fuel cells with water obtained from the exhaust of the fuel cells. Humidifying methods include the following steps: cooling the hot and humid exhaust of the fuel cell to condense the water in the exhaust with the intake gas for the fuel cell; separating the water from the rest of the exhaust, and, delivering the water to the intake gas of the fuel cell. Humidifying devices include an outer shell containing a rotating inner shell. The inside of the inner shell forms a chamber where the exhaust is collected and cooled, and water is condensed and separated by the rotation of the inner shell. Openings on the inner shell allow the condensed water to pass through to one or more chambers containing the intake gas. The chambers are formed by the inside of the outer shell and the outside of the inner shell.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2005Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: BYD Company LimitedInventors: Chuanfu Wang, Yong Zhou
