  • Publication number: 20090283929
Abstract: A new system and method for making agglomerates from material like wet chopped glass fiber strand segments is disclosed and the agglomerates so produced. Agglomerates, made by feeding wet chopped fiber strand segments into a wave chamber having a vibrating curved surface supporting a curved, dimpled liner working surface have improved density and flow characteristics compared with dry chopped strands, but it was discovered that the dimpled liner flexes during operation during vibration causing undesirable variation in properties like agglomerate size. In the invention the dimpled liner is backed up with a substantially non-compressible material and this results in agglomerates that have even better uniformity of flow and agglomerate diameters. Typical backing materials include a particulate material, an elastomer, a rididized elastomer, slurry or liquid, or wire or slivers of metal.

Abstract: This invention concerns stoppers made from composite material for sparkling wines consisting of two types of cork agglomerate which are closely bonded and produced from two ranges of granulates of different granulometry, where the joining surface between the two agglomerates is irregular due to their interpenetration. The invention also concerns the production process of these stoppers by individual moulding (piece by piece), whereby the simultaneous feeding of the two types of granulate and the respective additives is done and the mould is closed by compression and then heated for a time for polymerisation. The granulates used are normally treated with a reactive agglomerant consisting of, for example, quasi-prepolymer based od TDI or quasi de-moulding, the unfinished stopper is stabilised, and later machined to the final dimensions.

An agglomeration is accomplished by mixing at least partially anhydrous and halide salts of metals, grinding those into a fine powder, and pan agglomerating the fine powder with water or solutions of the halide salts which upon contact with the dry fine powder form fully hydrated and stable pan agglomerated salt mixtures which do not require drying.

  • Patent number: 7267539
Abstract: A new system for making agglomerates of chopped glass fiber strand segments is disclosed and claimed. The agglomerates, made by feeding wet chopped fiber strand segments into a wave chamber having a vibrating curved surface that produces a wave-like flow pattern in the segments and agglomerates, have a substantially higher bulk density and greatly improved flow characteristics than conventional chopped strand reinforcements. The wet agglomerates are usually dried in any conventional dryer.

  • Patent number: 6872336
Abstract: Among the conventional processes for producing solid dispersion, the solid dispersion obtained by a solvent method is excellent in terms of solubility and bioavailability of a poorly soluble drug. However, due to frequent uses of organic solvents in the solvent method, problems have arisen such as organic solvent residue in products, environmental pollution and operational safety as well as corporate problems such as capital investment and the like required to avoid such events. The present invention provides a process for preparing pharmaceutical solid preparations without use of organic solvents frequently used in conventional solvent methods.
