  • Patent number: 8123989
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for controlling a linear motion axis, particularly of the injection screw (43) or a melt piston for an injection molding machine. Said device comprises a hydraulically driven piston (45) having a piston chamber (A) and a rod chamber (B). According to the solution proposed by the invention, at least one process phase is controlled/regulated by means of two parallel proportional valves, an injection valve (1) and a metering valve (2). The two proportional valves can be connected in parallel or in combination. The control/regulation of the driven piston (45) preferably uses digital technology. An enormous reduction in energy consumption and smooth transitions between the process phases are achieved with a hydraulic linear drive.

Abstract: A helmet is made by the steps of measuring the geometry of human head to map its contour, selecting an appropriately sized unfinished helmet having an oversized thick foam liner with an unfinished interior surface, collapsing selected areas of said foam liner by using an ultrasonic tool to heat said selected areas to provide a finished interior surface having a predetermined shape conforming to said contour of said human head. The helmet comprises a helmet shell with an interior-facing liner having selected areas of collapsed foam which provide an interior facing foam liner surface which conforms to a predetermined geometry of a human head.

  • Patent number: 8000517
Abstract: The test procedure for determining groove conformance employs a replicating compound to obtain a self-supporting mass with a negative image of the grooves of a club face. A thin test specimen strip is sliced from the mass and then scanned to form an electronic trace of the profile of the ribs. A negative image of the profile of the ribs is then obtained as a replica of the profile of the grooves and the grooves measured to determine conformance to USGA Rules. A protective covering may be placed on the self-supporting mass to insure the integrity of the ribs during slicing.

Abstract: A taper angle of a self-written optical waveguide to be formed is increased or decreased at a desired position. A range of light (aperture number) condensed by a focusing lens 31 is adjusted by an iris diaphragm 22? in which the hole diameter can be changed from 1 mm to 12 mm. An image of the self-written optical waveguide 51 being fabricated is taken with a CCD camera 70, and image processing of the image is executed in real time by an image processing device 71. The taper angle of the self-written optical waveguide 51 is measured, and the taper angle of the self-written optical waveguide 51 can be desirably increased or decreased by changing the diameter of iris diaphragm 22?.

Abstract: A method for compression molding a thin cover layer over a large or soft core golf ball, wherein the process includes mold press speed of closure, pressure within the mold cavities, temperature of materials being molded, and the movement of the compression press is controlled by as the mold position rather than any fixed amounts of time. A Ram press is moved in a very controlled fashion during the low pressure stage by a servo controller, and is governed by data fed to a control computer by a linear potentiometer, which allows for a very deliberate movement, especially over the last 0.4 inches of closing. A pressure transducer and thermocouples determine the flow point of the cover layer. Once the cover material starts to flow, the Ram press is triggered into a high pressure close wherein the cover layer is formed and then finally cooled.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to flexible, three-dimensional injection blow molded or injection stretch blow molded liners for use in overpacks, bottles, containers, etc. and methods for manufacturing the same. A method for manufacturing a liner may include injecting a polymeric material into a preform mold die to form a preform, blow molding the preform to form the liner, collapsing the liner and positioning the liner in an overpack, and inflating the liner. A fluoropolymer may be used for the preform. A liner may comprise a flexible body that substantially conforms to the interior of an overpack and a fitment port integral with the flexible body. The flexible body may be adapted to be removably inserted into the overpack by collapsing the flexible body, inserting the flexible body into the overpack, and re-inflating the flexible body inside the overpack. The flexible body may comprise a fluoropolymer and may comprise multiple layers.
