  • Patent number: 4265852
Abstract: A process and apparatus for forming a laminated plastic article, especially a container. In one formation sequence, a flattened preform of desired perimeter configuration is formed, which preferably is multilayered, directly from thermoplastic materials. In another formation sequence, a preform is positioned in a thermoforming apparatus wherein, with edge portions of the preform is clamped and the midportions are mandrel-formed into a body having continuous integral side and bottom wall portions. This body is then trimmed and blow-molded to produce a desired product article. Residual portions of the starting preform can be trimmed away from the lip portions of the product article if desired.

  • Patent number: 4167935
Abstract: A solar flat plate absorber panel is molded from a laminate consisting of a suitable web material impregnated with a thermosetting phenolic resin. The absorber plate is pressure formed from superimposed layers of material and mold-cured to produce a unitary structure having a first or solar radiation absorbing surface on one side and an integral closed hollow lattice work of fluid heat transfer passages on the other or reverse side of the panel. The laminate web may be made from any suitable material such as paper, cloth, canvas or wire mesh which is easily impregnated with a thermosetting phenolic resin. In the preferred embodiment a B-stage phenol-formaldehyde resin is used. The two superimposed sheets of impregnated material are molded between heated platens of an hydraulic press to form an integral structure and fluid pressure between the sheets is utilized to mold the desired passage shape 5.

  • Patent number: 4155967
Abstract: A building structure and method of making the same are disclosed wherein an inflatable form is inflated and an insulation layer of urethane form is applied to the undersurface of the foam. Hanger members are secured to the foam layer by adhesively affixing planar base portions of the hangers to the foam layer whereafter additional foam is applied to embed the hanger bases. Reinforcing mesh is secured to and supported by the hangers followed by the application of one or more layers of a cementitious material which is allowed to cure. Air pressure beneath the form is progressively increased to maintain a substantially constant uplift force on the foam. The inflatable form may be removed after curing and a protective coating applied to the outer exposed surface of urethane foam to protect it from ultraviolet degradation.
