Abstract: The present invention comprises a method for producing a tube preform using an injection molding method. The inventor of the present invention has found that in the case of using an injection molding method to produce tube preforms which can be constructed with either one layer or a plurality of layers, and of subsequent extension, in particular by heating the preform, and biaxial expansion by means of compressed air, a tube can be obtained which, on the one hand, has a tube shoulder with the strength required by industrial thread and, on the other hand, has a lateral surface which exhibits the softness desired for a tube.

Abstract: A control panel for electronic equipment that satisfies the requirements of hermeticity, clearness of indication and operability and yet allows a cost reduction. A sheet made of a commercially available light-transmitting thermoplastic synthetic resin material is used as a substrate. Sheet recesses are formed on the sheet so that each print layer formed on the surface of the sheet is located on the inner side of the bottom of a sheet recess. The sheet recesses are filled with a synthetic resin material to form pushbuttons. A contact surface of a case cover and a contact surface of a pushbutton outer skin are kept in close contact with each other during injection molding. Therefore, there is no possibility of the resin material flowing between the contact surfaces. It is unnecessary to insert a mold member into the clearance between each pushbutton and the associated opening in the case cover. Because the clearance can be minimized, it becomes easy to achieve a size reduction and so forth.

The twist grip has an area with a small diameter, a transitional area, and an area with a large diameter, and the twist grip can be positively and detachably connected to a twist grip shifter in the axial direction. The twist grip can have an elastic rubber grip part and a non-elastic rotary part, and can have a surface structure with root-like, sharp ribs on the external surface of the grip part. The surface structure on the grip part has the advantage that the fins or peaks extend axially along the surface lines, and fit into the bends underneath the joints of the index finger, to essentially guarantee the optimum transmission of torque from the hand of the rider to the twist grip.

Abstract: A multilayer plastic perform formed from a combination of virgin and recycled plastic such as PET so that the resultant blow-molded bottle has a reduced tendency for bottom failure in spite of the use of recycled plastic. A first plastic preform for providing the inner layer of the multi-layer preform is provided with spaced channels on the exterior surface of a closed end thereof extending from a central region of that end to the sidewalls. An injection mold cavity is provided with a like plurality of channels formed therein in a closed end thereof communicating with the injection gate of an injection molding apparatus. The first plastic preform is inserted into the injection mold cavity with the respective channels of the preform and the injection mold cavity substantially aligned. A second layer of plastic material is overmolded onto the first layer by injection molding in the cavity. A third layer of plastic material may be overmolded on the second layer to form a three-layer preform.

The female mold has a cavity surface for forming a cavity, and a parting surface having an outer peripheral section on which to hold a decorative sheet, and an inner peripheral section extending between the inner edge of the outer peripheral section of the parting surface and the edge of the cavity surface in a concavely curved shape to allow the expansion of a peripheral portion of the decorative sheet around a decorating portion of the same during preforming. This reduces local strains in the decorative portion of the sheet and ensures a uniform thickness distribution of the sheet to prevent breaking and creasing of the sheet.

Abstract: A molding process in which a material with an open cell, porous structure 10 is placed, aligned or supported inside a suitable enclosed holding device. Another molding material 20 is subsequently injected into the said holding device while gas and/or pressure is sequentially applied to the said holding device, causing a synergistic interaction and joining between the said materials to take place. During the processing phase, gas is evenly dispersed throughout the porous core, effectively equalizing cavity pressure and permitting an even flow pattern to exist, encapsulating or sandwiching the said porous structure, thus forming a composite material with physical properties which are substantially greater than the individual components.

A outer bottle (12) is first formed from a first preform by biaxial Stretch blow molding. After this molding step, a plurality of air vent holes (24) are formed in a biaxially orientated region of the outer bottle (12). Next, a second preform (70) and the outer bottle (12) are set together within a first blow cavity mold (100). Subsequently, the inner bottle (24) is formed by biaxial stretch blow molding from the second preform (70) while the air within the outer bottler (12) is expelled through the air vent holes (24). Circumferential concave ribs (22) are formed around the entire circumference of the outer bottle (12), and at least one of the air vent holes (24) is formed in a region either inside or outside the region in which the circumferential concave ribs are formed.

  • Patent number: 5922270
Abstract: A process for producing a hollow article in an assembly comprising first and second mold members movable relative to each other between a closed position in which an inner surface of the assembly defines a cavity and an open position. The cavity is shaped to define a corresponding configuration to the article. According to this process, a charge containing at least one molten thermoplastic resin is supplied at the first and/or second mold member while the mold members are not in the closed position. The first mold member is moved relative to the second mold member into the closed position so as to define the cavity, and a first clamping force F1 is applied to the first and second mold members. The charge is then compressed within the mold cavity under the first clamping force F1. Thereafter, the clamping force is reduced from the first clamping force F1 to a second clamping force F2 before the molten thermoplastic resin in the mold cavity has completely solidified.
