  • Patent number: 9528341
Abstract: The extrusion barrier for a sealing element for a packer or bridge plug is energized when set to store a retractive force that can be deployed when the packer or plug is released. The structure is a coiled spring that has gaps in the run in position and has a relaxed diameter smaller than the borehole or surrounding tubular dimension. When the packer is set a cone acts in conjunction with the spring to compress the coils together into contact while increasing the diameter to bridge an annular gap to act as an extrusion barrier. In the set position there is a restorative potential energy force that when the spring is allowed to relax retracts the shape back to the run in shape for removal of the packer or plug. Some of the trailing end coils are of a smaller diameter so that the structure can be clamped there for forcible axial movements in opposed directions.

Abstract: A light bar fixing device comprises a light bar defining a through-hole and a heat dissipation mechanism defining a threaded hole corresponding to the through-hole. The light bar fixing device further comprises a helical spring having a pitch identical to that of the threaded hole. A columnar body of the helical spring is adapted to be threaded into the threaded hole, and an outer diameter of a stop end of the helical spring is greater than that of the columnar body. By threading the helical spring into the threaded hole, the light bar can be securely connected to the heat dissipation mechanism with a clearance therebetween being reduced. Also, the light bar can dissipate heat evenly via the heat dissipation mechanism to allow a uniform temperature distribution in the light bar, thus resulting in a desirable light emitting effect and a prolonged service life of the light bar.

  • Patent number: 6481701
Abstract: A spring includes intermediate coils of larger and smaller diameter so that upon compression of the spring the smaller diameter coil may nest within one of the large diameter coils, thereby reducing the overall length of the spring without causing the coils to come in contact with one another. The spring may be used in automotive vehicle suspension assemblies and other applications. The axis of the smaller coil may be offset from the axes of the other coils, thereby providing a spring in which one side is softer and the other is stiffer, so that upon compression the spring bows or deflects along a curved line. In addition to the small diameter coil being offset from the remaining coils, the wire diameter of one or more of the coils may be changed to affect the local stiffness of the spring.

  • Patent number: 6371434
Abstract: Spring arrangement for mounting a vibration- or shock-sensitive device attached to a supporting member in a housing, with the supporting member being fastened to the housing by helical spring elements. The supporting member is suspended in the housing by helical spring elements so that each elastic force component of one spring applied to the supporting member in a specific direction is counteracted by at least one elastic force component of another spring applied in the opposite direction so that the supporting member remains approximately in the center of the vibration clearance provided regardless of the position in which the housing is mounted in a motor vehicle. Due to the opposing elastic forces of the springs, the spring constant and therefore the natural frequency of the overall system can be advantageously increased, thus avoiding undesired points of resonance at low frequencies.
