Abstract: A ground vehicle suspension system includes first and second rocker-bogie mechanisms which are respectively secured to a chassis on opposing sides of a central axis. Each rocker-bogie mechanism includes a main link on which a first and second bogie is respectively pivotally mounted. The first and second bogie each has opposing inner and outer bogie end portions. On each bogie, an inner wheel is disposed on an inner stub axle and an outer wheel is disposed on an outer stub axle. A continuous track is guided on the inner and outer wheels of the first bogie and second bogie. A resilient member extends between the first and second bogie and is attached at one end to the inner bogie end portion of the first bogie and at an opposing end to the inner bogie end portion of the second bogie.

Abstract: The invention relates to a wheel suspension for motor vehicles, with a suspension strut which is formed from a shock absorber and a bearing spring, the bearing spring being supported by way of spring plates on the body of the motor vehicle and on the tube of the shock absorber, and a spring plate being movably guided relative to the body and able to be moved axially by means of an actuator relative to the shock absorber tube, and the suspension strut having a preloaded spring with a spring force which is opposite the bearing spring, which is supported on the body of the motor vehicle and also on the movable spring plate of the bearing spring. According to the invention, the actuator is located outside, in particular radially outside the suspension strut.
Abstract: A spring system includes an axially moving center attachment located between two static attachments. Bi-directional axial center deflections cause push-pull restoration forces. There is little mechanical fixturing preload stress acting on material also subjected to high cyclic stresses. The spring material includes an unbroken path between the two static attachments, going through the center attachment. In one embodiment, the unbroken path is a length of wire bent into substantially parallel side-by-side helices clamped statically at the bottom of each helix. A moving attachment grips the center of the wire bridging diagonally between the tops of the helices. In a second embodiment, the unbroken path is a length of wire bent into end-to-end helices sharing a common axis and clamped statically at the axially opposite ends of the spring.
Abstract: A suspension for a vehicle wheel, comprising an elongated shock absorber (7) having an elongated body (6) and first and second abutments at opposite ends of the shock absorber. First and second coil compression springs (R20, R30) are aligned with each other and surround the shock absorber (7). One of these springs bears against one of the abutments and the other of the springs bears against the other of the abutments. A cup (32) is disposed between the springs, this cup surrounding the body and being movable lengthwise of the body. Both of the springs bear on the cup (32). An annular jack (5) is fixed to and surrounds the body and comprises one (10) of the abutments. A third abutment (31) is fixed to the body a distance from the jack (5). An elastic ring (54) is compressible between the cup (32) and the third abutment (31).
