Including Central Guide Rod Or Tube Through Spring Patents (Class 267/293)
  • Patent number: 4871150
Abstract: The support has a generally annular shape and a fixing device extends axially therethrough. It comprises an annular elastically yieldable mass connected to two frames, a semi-toric membrane fixed between the two frames and defnining with the outer surface of the mass a work chamber (A). This chamber communicates with an expansion chamber (B) through a passageway. The support also includes a device for limiting its axial and radial movements. Such a support has a particularly low natural stiffness both in the radial direction and in the transverse direction, which improves the filtering of high frequency vibrations while affording a good damping of trepidations of low frequency and large amplitude.

  • Patent number: 4848756
Abstract: A fluid-filled cylindrical elastic mount including an inner and an outer sleeve disposed in radially spaced-apart relation with each other and attached to one and the other of a load member and a support structure, an elastic body interposed between the inner and outer sleeves for elastically connecting these sleeves and having a pressure-receiving chamber, and a closure member cooperating with the outer sleeve to define a equilibrium chamber within a void formed between the inner and outer sleeves so as to extend in the axial direction of the sleeves. The pressure-receiving and equilibrium chambers are filled with a non-compressible fluid and communicate with each other through a restricted passage. A protective member fixedly provided on the inner sleeve for movement with the inner sleeve is inserted through the void so as to elastically deform the closure member toward the outer sleeve before the elastic mount is attached to the load member.

  • Patent number: 4826145
Abstract: A resilient bearing able to accommodate relative torsional movement between two concentric inner and outer tubular rigid members comprises between those members a resilient bearing having a layer of elastomeric material secured relative to one of the rigid members and a support member for sliding relative to the other rigid member. The support member is axially movable and preferably inclined relative to the axis of the bearing at its interface with the elastomeric material whereby any such axial movement results in compression loading of that elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 4809960
Abstract: A bushing assembly for use in a suspension of an automotive vehicle. The bushing assembly is comprised of inner and outer cylinder members which are coaxial and spaced from each other. An elastic member and a rigid sleeve member are disposed between the inner and outer cylinder members. A sliding member is disposed between the inner cylinder member and the rigid sleeve member in order to reduce torsion spring effect of the elastic member. The sliding member is prevented from its axial displacement upon contacting with a radially outwardly extending retainer section formed in the inner cylinder member. Additionally, a generally cap-shaped seal rubber is provided to accomplish seal between the end section of the rigid sleeve member and the end section of the inner cylinder member.

  • Patent number: 4805886
Abstract: An improved deflection jounce bumper assembly for a vehicle suspension strut which dampens and limits the action of the shock absorber in its jounce stroke. The bumper assembly comprises an inverted metal cup-shaped shell member which attaches a molded elastomeric bumper member to the strut upper mount. The bumper member has a lower hollow right cylindrical sleeve portion which surrounds the strut piston rod with the sleeve upper end in turn surrounded by an outer side wall portion of the shell member. The sleeve portion has a predetermined height such that upon its lower end face impacting on the strut support casing upper end closure plate an initially high spring dampening rate is achieved. A control ring is embedded in the sleeve portion adjacent its lower end face which, together with the shell member outer side wall is operative to restrict and control the expansion of the sleeve portion as it undergoes progressive spring rate deformation adjacent the full jounce position.

  • Patent number: 4804169
Abstract: An improved deflection composite jounce bumper for a vehicle suspension strut. The bumper comprises an inverted metal cup-shaped shell insert embedded within a molded elastomeric body. The body defines a hollow elongated sleeve portion which surrounds a piston rod upper end with its upper portion in turn concentrically surrounded by the annular side wall of the shell. The sleeve portion has a predetermined height such that upon its lower end face impacting on the strut support casing upper end cap an initially high spring dampening rate is achieved. The shell outer side wall is operative to restrict the expansion of the sleeve portion as it undergoes progressive controlled deformation and compaction providing a substantially uniform spring rate while obviating over stressing of the jounce bumper.

  • Patent number: 4770398
Abstract: An engine mounting device resiliently supports an engine on a frame including a first plate member for connection to the frame. A second plate member is U-shaped and has flanges at each end of the U-shaped portion for connection to the first plate member and the frame. A tubular member is disposed between and spaced from the first plate member and the second plate member. A resilient member interconnects the tubular member and the first and second plate members for resiliently supporting the tubular member between the first and second plate members. The first plate member includes a plurality of raised ribs laterally spaced one from the other and forms an arch-shaped opening for receiving a first end of the resilient member to prevent lateral movement of the resilient member. The resilient member has a second end arcuate and complimentary to the U-shaped portion of the second plate member to prevent lateral and radial movement of the resilient member.
