    Abstract: A method of varying a resistive force applied by exercise equipment including providing a resistance band assembly for providing resistive force during the performance of an exercise. The resistance band assembly includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. A bore is defined in the housing and a connector is provided in the bore. The connector includes first and second surfaces and a hole is defined in the connector and extends between the surfaces. A disc is also provided in the bore and also has a first and second surface. An aperture is defined in the disc and extends between the first and second surfaces thereof. A first and second resilient member is provided and these resilient members are selectively engageable with the resistance band assembly to provide a first resistive force during the performance of an exercise.

Single crystals are pulled from melt as in the Stepanov method and quenched by rapid cooling to prevent selective precipitation of individual elemental components. The rod in connected to the tension cable. When the tension cable pulls on one end of the rod, the piston is pulled towards the tension cable. The fluid creates resistance in the tension damper as the fluid moves through the orifice from one compartment to the other compartment, damping vehicle roll. Control of the tension dampers can be passive, semi-active, or active.

    Abstract: An improved stirrup suspension utilizes a multi-stage spring suspension to accommodate the different downward forces generated during normal riding as well as jumping. The stirrup suspension includes a housing having a bottom wall and continuous side wall, a slide member slidably received within the housing, a stirrup connector mounted to the lower end of said slide member, a first spring element received around the slide member, and a second spring element also received around said slide member. The first spring element is effective for exerting a force F1 under a minimum load while the second spring element is effective for exerting a force F2 that is greater than F1 under a minimum load. In use, the lower end of the slide member is attached to the stirrup which will move up and down relative to the housing. The slide member slidably moves within housing where a flange member at the top of the slide compresses the first and second spring elements upon the exertion of a downward force on the stirrup.

    Abstract: A drafting table having spring-balanced lifting and tilting movement features is provided with an anti-snap device which prevents the table top from tilting so quickly to the full-vertical position that it hits its stops and rocks the entire table over. The anti-snap device comprises a flexible strap which is wrapped about and fixed to cylindric members on which the table top lifts and tilts. The flexible strap becomes tight as the table top reaches its fully vertical position, but tightening of the strap is resisted by the tilt springs, which are pulled to one side by the strap. Resistance to the tightening of the strap requires more force to tilt the top to its full vertical position, increasingly slowing the tilting movement near the end of tilting travel.
