Abstract: A method for manufacturing a composite compensating balance spring is provided, the method including providing a first wafer made of a first material; providing at least one second wafer made of at least one second material having Young's modulus variations with temperature that are of opposite sign as those of the first material; joining the first wafer to the at least one second wafer to form a substrate; etching a pattern through the substrate to form a composite compensating balance spring including a first thickness of the first material and at least a second thickness of the at least one second material; and releasing the composite compensating balance spring from the substrate.

Abstract: A supporting spring system for furniture for sleeping, sitting or reclining, having a plurality of elongated, resilient carrier profiles that have a longitudinal axis and that run parallel to each other, form a common plane, and preferably are mounted on a frame or on longitudinal members. The carrier profiles have at least one reinforcement that is spaced apart from the longitudinal axis, and the profiles can be rotated about the longitudinal axis or an axis parallel thereto in order to change their flexural stiffness against a force in the direction perpendicular to the common plane.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a spring structure having a contact-preventing and rigidity-reinforcing function for a bed mattress in which the structure of a connection end portion for connecting a body spring and an exposure wire spring to each other is improved such that the connection end portion is not in close contact with an uppermost winding and/or a lowermost winding of the body spring and such that when a load is exerted to an exposure wire spring a displacement is prevented from being generated in which the exposure wire spring is leaned to one side, and rigidity of the spring is reinforced so that the exposure wire spring ascends/descends vertically only, thereby easily preventing the lateral displacement and deformation of the spring along with a prevention of a noise due to a frictional contact to prolong the lifespan of the spring.

Abstract: The invention relates to a double balance spring (21) including, made in a layer of silicon-based material (11), a first balance spring (23) coaxially mounted on a collet (13, 27), the collet (13, 27) including an extending part (9) that projects from said balance spring and which is made in a second layer of silicon-based material (5). According to the invention, said extending part extends (17) into a third layer (7) of silicon-based material coaxially with a second balance spring (25) so as to form a one-piece double balance spring (21) made of silicon-based materials. The invention also relates to a timepiece including a balance spring of this type and the method of manufacturing the same. The invention concerns the field of timepiece movements.

Abstract: A foundation unit having a top bearing grid structure secured to a bottom substructure by intermediate support elements. The grid structure comprises a series of spaced longitudinal and transverse spring elements, each spring element being formed to permit elastic elongation thereof. Elastic elongation is accomplished by a series of V-shaped segments in each of the spring elements, the segments being located at the intersections of the spring elements and being joined by a clip. Abstract: A multi-rate side bearing for a railway truck is provided. The side bearing comprises a base plate and an upper plate, with two resilient devices located between the base plate and the upper plate. The resilient devices usually are elastomeric pads of different compression rates and shear stiffness. Under unloaded car conditions, only one pad is in load supporting contact, but under loaded car conditions, both resilient devices contact the upper and base plates to provide load support and car body-truck motion damping.
Abstract: A box spring assembly which includes a generally rectangular frame, a welded wire grid disposed above and aligned with the frame, a plurality of upwardly extending limited deflection wire springs which are mounted at their lower ends on the frame and at their upper ends are interlocked with the welded wire grid, and corner springs which are yieldable and are supported on the corners of the frame so as to support the corners of the grid. Each of the limited deflection springs is formed at its upper end with an attaching portion that is connected to the grid merely by moving it from an initial assembly position to an interlocked position, without the requirement of any notches in the grid. This structure enables assembly of the grid and the springs without the requirement for the usual attaching clips.
