Patent number: 10426268Abstract: A furniture cushion comprises a matrix of pocketed springs, each spring of which is contained within a pocket of fabric. Foam at least partially surrounds the matrix and is secured to a cushion frame. The foam is bowed upwardly over the matrix of pocketed springs to create a crown. A webbing sheet underneath an opening in the cushion frame creates a cavity inside which the matrix of pocketed springs resides. The flexibility of the webbing sheet and crown of the foam create an active suspension system which provides support and comfort.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2018Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventor: Lewis A. Patent number: 6983503Abstract: There is provided an innerspring assembly used in a mattress for absorbing external loads. An outermost coil spring 115 of a spring array 110 is secured in a space between upper and lower border wires 120 and 120? by pins 140, and helical coils 130 are disposed in row directions R on upper and lower portions of the spring array 110 to knit an adjacent coil spring 115, such that each coil spring has a free terminal convolution 115a protruded from an upper portion of the upper border wire 120 and/or a lower portion of the lower border wire 120?. The spring assembly includes an enclosure 10 partially or fully provided on an upper end portion and/or an lower end portion of the coil spring for covering the terminal convolution 115a in the row direction R or column direction L, thereby interrupting interference between the terminal convolution 115a and the upper and/or lower border wire 120 and 120? and absorbing a lateral load applied to the terminal convolution.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2004Date of Patent: January 10, 2006Assignee: Ace Bed Co., Ltd.Inventor: Sung Ho Ahn

Patent number: 6832401Abstract: An improved spring support system is disclosed for use in seating or bedding. The invention includes an outer frame having opposed top edges. A plurality of vertically resilient members having top ends and lower ends are fixedly disposed within the outer frame in a plurality of rows and columns. An elastic top sheet is stretched between the opposed top edges of the frame and over the top ends of the vertically resilient members. The resilient top sheet and vertically resilient members cooperate to provide a resilient support surface for supporting a person seated or reclined on the support surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2002Date of Patent: December 21, 2004Assignee: Hickory Springs Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Dennis A. Patent number: 4476595Abstract: A mattress for use on a bed and settee comprises a spring unit, at least one cushion, a protection layer arranged between the spring unit and the cushion, and an outer covering for covering these component members. The protection layer includes a frame located at the circumference and outside of the spring unit, and a net tensioned inside the frame, the protection layer being made of synthetic resin and having the frame and net formed integral thereto. The frame has a flange with which end turns of coil springs arranged in the spring unit and adjacent to the frame can be contacted. The frame of each protection layer provided with the flange has sufficient rigidity and serves as a reinforcing member.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1982Date of Patent: October 16, 1984Assignee: France Bed Co., Ltd.Inventor: Minoru Ikeda
