Abstract: A clamping jig releasably holds a workpiece of elongate cross section such as a radiator core. The jig includes an upright frame and a parallelogram-shaped horizontal articulated linkage having a pair of parallel side rails and a pair of end members pivotally connected to the ends of the side rails for movement about vertical axes. The side rails are spaced apart a distance greater than the width of a radiator core, and are moved by a pneumatic cylinder or other actuator so that the links pivot about their axes, and the side rails move closer together to clamp the radiator core between them. The clamping mechanism is operated by a foot pedal, for hands free operation. The vertical height of the parallelogram linkage may be readily adjusted, and hold-down elements are provided to exert a downward pressure on the radiator when it is held clamped between the side rails.

Abstract: A clamping apparatus is disclosed which can clamp a workpiece in two non-parallel directions. The apparatus is made up of a pipe clamp having an attached adjustable height beam member which spans a significant portion of the pipe clamp's length. The beam member is attached to the pipe clamp by a "U"-bolt shaped retainer at one end and an eye-bolt shaped retainer at the other end. The beam member is sized so that it can be released from the "U"-bolt shaped retainer and thereby be allowed to pivot about the eye-bolt shaped retainer. A modified block structure is also disclosed which can be placed between the beam member and a workpiece being clamped.

Abstract: A woodworking corner clamp assembly having two screw clamp assemblies, each clamp assembly being oriented perpendicular to one leg of an L-shaped frame. Each clamp is also capable of longitudinal sliding movement along one leg of the L-shaped frame. The longitudinal position of each clamp along the respective leg of the L-shaped frame is controlled by the rotation of a threaded rod which passes through a longitudinal slot located in the leg of the frame and through a portion of the base of the clamp member, such that rotation of the threaded rod causes the clamp to be driven longitudinally along the length of the frame.

Abstract: A V-block accurately and predictably aligns an electrode blank with respect to an electrode holder. The V-block is clamped against two locating flats that are machined perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to an end face of a standard 20 mm diam. electrode holder. A clamping ring locks the V-block against the machined flats of the electrode holder. The location of the machined flats with respect to the center of the electrode holder shaft is based upon the size of the electrode which will be automatically centered on the electrode holder.

Abstract: An electrode holder clamps the electrode 11 in two perpendicular directions by clamp members 33 and 40. Each clamp member slidably rests on base seat 16 which has side portions 17 and 18 that extend at right angles to each other. Clamp screws 60 and 63 along with serrated engaging faces 48 and 54 and engaging members 47 and 53 allow clamp members 33 and 40 to be positioned finely, thereby accurately positioning the electrode 11. Because the respective clamp faces 37 and 44 of the clamp members 33 and 40 are formed to fit each other, even a small-diameter electrode can easily be clamped into position.

Abstract: A machine for use in the fusion fitting of a branch, T- or saddle junction to a pipe, comprises a first clamp for holding pipe and a second clamp for holding the fitting in the correct orientation to the pipe. A manually-operated sliding plunger arrangement allows the second clamp to be moved towards or away from the first clamp by way of a manually operated device. The second clamp can be locked against retraction from any one of a plurality of positions relative to the first clamp, and is adapted to be loaded towards the first clamp in its locked positions during the fusion process when a fitting engages a pipe or a heating tool is held between a pipe and fitting.
