  • Patent number: 5727779
Abstract: A new Clamping Stand for holding and clamping a workpiece in a fixed position so that work may be performed on the workpiece. The inventive device includes a vertical support member, a leg assembly extending downward from one end of the vertical support member, a workpiece tray provided at an opposite end of the vertical support member for holding a workpiece, and a clamping member movable relative to the workpiece tray for clamping the workpiece in the workpiece tray. A stirrup, adapted to receive a foot of a user of the stand, extends downward from the clamping member, whereby downward movement of the stirrup causes the clamping member to move downward against a workpiece positioned in the workpiece tray thereby clamping the workpiece in the workpiece tray.

  • Patent number: 5489090
Abstract: A multi-functional tool with clamping- and shaping jaws (14) is to be created, which is quickly adaptable to the respective different application uses and which can provide if need be not only high clamping- rather also high shaping forces. This is achieved by guiding the tool jaws (14) by means of guide elements (15) aligned essentially in feed or advance direction in the basic member (2) or in the trolley (3), that the tool jaws (14) are retained by means of a centered clamping element (16, 17, 19) in their working position and that, in addition to a spindle drive (5-7) for moving the trolley relative to the basic member (2), at least one additional mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and/or electromotive feed element (12) actuatable by a pedal (12a) is provided.

  • Patent number: 5120035
Abstract: A workbench capable of clamping workpieces of various thicknesses. The workbench includes a laterally disposed work table mounted on a support structure. A clamping member is provided which includes a clamp positioned above the work table and configured to clamp a workpiece between the clamp and the work table. The workbench further includes a foot treadle pivotally mounted on the support structure. A linkage interconnects the foot treadle wit the clamping member such that rotation of the foot treadle in a first direction moves the clamp into clamping relation with the work table, and rotation of the foot treadle in a second direction moves the clamp away from the work table.

  • Patent number: 4874156
Abstract: This combination holding tool and vise allows the operator, using hands and a foot pedal, to insert and adjust one or more work pieces between vise jaws before allowing spring pressure to hold the work pieces between the jaws in the holding tool mode. The arrangement permits the holding tool assembly with the work piece(s) to be transferred intact to another work station. Instead, the work piece(s) may be firmly gripped in their held position by advancing a rigid mechanical stop against one of the jaws, so that the holding tool now becomes a conventional vise. If desired, the vise assembly with the work piece(s) may be transferred to another work station. The combination has obvious advantages over a separate holding tool and vise in speeding up production and assembly operations, such as lower cost, ability to perform added operations on the work piece, and simplicity, so that it can be operated by handicapped, partially disabled people.

  • Patent number: 4558855
Abstract: A device for simultaneously compressing a row of resilient finger pairs on an article holding rack to facilitate placement and removal of articles. A pair of opposed, plate-like jaws are supported in the same horizontal plane by a pair of parallel, L-shaped side walls which are in turn supported by a support frame. One of the plate-like jaws is fixed and the other is moveable on a pair of bearing blocks, each of which travels on a horizontally positioned bearing way. Hand and foot actuators are provided for moving the moveable plate-like jaw adjacent to the fixed plate-like jaw to compress the finger pairs. The hand and foot actuators which are provided include a pair of counterbalanced dogleg lever arms which act on vertical plates fixedly attached to the under surface of the moveable plate-like jaw. The moveable jaw is first moved into position for compressing with the handle and then further moved to compress the finger pairs with the foot pedal.

  • Patent number: 4419031
Abstract: An apparatus for drilling matching dowel holes in at least two companion workpieces includes a frame with a top surface and a drilling mechanism driven by a motor. The drilling mechanism is slidably attached to the top surface of the frame and movable along a first drilling axis substantially parallel to the top surface. A centering mechanism automatically centers the workpieces with respect to the first axis by movement along a second axis. A positioning mechanism is rigidly attached to the centering mechanism and positions the centering mechanism such that each of the workpieces is positioned in at least two dowel hole drilling positions along the first drilling axis. The positioning mechanism includes spaced-apart first and second stop members which define first and second dowel hole drilling positions. A stop engaging member is positioned movably between the first and second stop members and rigidly connects the positioning mechanism with the centering mechanism.
