Angular And/or Curved Jaw Face Patents (Class 269/268)
  • Patent number: 4211393
Abstract: A vise for holding a row of discrete articles between spaced front and rear vise jaws, wherein each of the front and rear jaws has an integral side jaw at one end thereof so that the two side jaws face each other across the space formed between the front and rear jaws, and the front jaw is linearly and angularly movable relative to the rear jaw in response to actuation of clamping means, to clamp a row of articles between the front and rear jaws and along the length of the row between the side jaws. The clamping means is capable of clamping the row of articles in both directions on a single movement of a control handle.

  • Patent number: 4114910
Abstract: A self-centering lathe chuck assembly for positioning and holding universal joints and associated propeller shafts comprises a pair of jaw assemblies mounted for radial movement toward and away from one another and each having a concave, conically shaped member for receiving and holding a universal joint journal cross, whereby different sizes and types of universal joints can be held in a given pair of jaw assemblies and the center or axis of the journal cross is automatically aligned with the turning axis of the lathe, thus eliminating the need for a different kit or jaw assembly for each different universal joint.

  • Patent number: 3946633
Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus and method for making a shingle from a block of wood. The block of wood is canted and a shingle is sawed from this block of wood. The shingle has a thick end and a thin end. After the shingle has been sawed, the block of wood is moved away from the saw and canted at a new angle with respect to the saw. Then, the block of wood is moved toward the saw and another shingle is sawed. This process is repeated to form shingles from a block of wood.
