Elements Jointed By A Pivot Or Link Patents (Class 269/278)
  • Patent number: 8628072
Abstract: An interface component is provided for use in combination with a clamp or compressive tool imparting a compressive force against respective planar contact surfaces of two components being joined at a miter joint. The interface features an elongated member having a projection projecting away from a top surface in a substantially circular path. The curved surface provides a means to redirect the compressive force communicated against said curved surface to the miter joint at a substantially normal angle.

  • Patent number: 8292281
Abstract: A stake installation tool for installing a stake in strata wherein the stake has a head at one end and a strata penetrator at the other end. The stake installation tool includes a driver. The stake installation tool further includes a stake retention assembly including a retention body, which contains a retention passageway. There is a flexible holder connected to the retention body. The head of the stake is received within the retention passageway and the flexible holder engages the head of the stake to operatively retain the stake.

Abstract: A part-holding assembly for use with a vise having a pair of jaws movable relative to one another. The part-holding assembly has a plurality of elongated, parallel blocks that are supported for relative movement on a pair of elongated parallel guide rods. A first one of the blocks may be removably positioned adjacent to the stationary jaw of the vise and has first and second spaced-apart cavities formed therein. A second one of the blocks may be removably positioned adjacent to the moveable jaw of the vise and has a first generally horizontally-extending through-hole aligned with the first cavity of the first block and a second generally horizontally-extending through-hole aligned with the second cavity of the first block.

  • Patent number: 8087138
Abstract: A bead crimping tool for crimping a bead element and method for use, wherein the tool includes a base handle, a crush plate member, a pair of opposed pincer members, an actuator handle, and a crush arm member. The bead element is placed on the crush plate and preferably secured in place by the crush arm. Crimping the bead includes squeezing of the actuator handle. During a first portion of such actuation, a cam portion of the actuator handle cases the pincer members to impart a lateral compressive force to a lateral portion of the bead element sufficient to collapse the bead element in a lateral direction. During a subsequent second portion of the single actuation cycle, the crush arm is caused to impart a longitudinal compressive force about a top portion of the bead element sufficient to compress the collapsed bead element in a longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5829111
Abstract: A pliers-like hand tool is provided for removing plastic grommets or other similar insert members embedded within concrete during a post tensioning or other forming process of concrete construction. The hand tool includes two hand members each having a jaw end portion, handle end portion and intermediate neck portion, being pivotally connected between the neck portion in a well known structure for gripping a workpiece between the jaws. A fulcrum protrusion is formed with the tool at a point near the jaw end and acts to provide a bearing on the concrete for a leverage action which is caused by pressure being applied to the handle ends against the concrete in order to extract the grommet which has been gripped between the jaws of the tool. It makes the removal of grommets easier in a labour-and-time-saving way. It is also helpful to preserve the grommets for future re-use.

  • Patent number: 4993254
Abstract: A small, lightweight, portable apparatus for use with a vise permits precise bending of material such as metal and plastic. A base of the apparatus has a size which can be clamped between the jaws of the vise along with a material to be bent. A movable member is connected to the base so that it can be pivoted relative to the base for bending an outwardly extending portion of the material clamped between the jaws of the vise. An adjustable stop on the movable member aids in setting the apparatus with respect to the vise for the particular thickness of the material to be bent.

  • Patent number: 4795175
Abstract: A nipple chuck for holding a pipe nipple blank in a power driven threading machine is comprised of three arcuate sleeve segments engaged between the jaws of the threading machine chuck. The segments are internally threaded at the front ends thereof and are pivotally supported adjacent the rear ends thereof such that the internally threaded front ends are manually pivotal radially of the nipple chuck axis. In use, the segments are closed about the threaded end of the nipple blank which is then securely grasped by radial engagement of the machine chuck jaws with the segments. Following threading of the unthreaded end of the nipple blank, the nipple chuck is removed from the machine chuck jaws, and the segments are manually pivoted to an open position to release the nipple.

  • Patent number: 4669714
Abstract: Two generally semicylindrical halves are held by an O ring encircling them with generally diametral matching surfaces in engagement. Lugs projecting from the matching surfaces are engageable in sockets in the other matching surfaces to deter sliding of the halves parallel to the matching surfaces. The matching surfaces have transverse ridges and clearance so that pressing tail portions of the halves at one side of the ridges will spread head portions at the opposite side of the ridges into clamping engagement with the aperture of a freewheel core into which such head portions are fitted.
