Blocks Enclosed By Holder Patents (Class 269/313)
  • Patent number: 8613434
Abstract: A positioning and fixing device positions a work pallet in the vertical and horizontal directions relative to a base member via a ring member, and also restricts its rotation around the vertical axis. The base member has Z reference surfaces that can stop a lower end reference surface of the ring member and position it in the vertical direction, and a tapered male engagement portion whose horizontal cross section is formed as a regular polygon having a plurality of outwardly convex circular arcuate vertex portions and a plurality of side portions, and that reduces in diameter upwards. The ring member has a tapered female engagement portion that can engage with the tapered male engagement portion so that its lower end reference surface is in contact against the Z reference surfaces.

  • Patent number: 8181949
Abstract: A micro-adjustable parallel bench vise includes a slide holder having a top dovetail rail, a vise body having a bottom dovetail groove coupled to the dovetail rail of the slide holder and holding a fixed jaw member, a screw holder slidably mounted in the top side of the vise body, a screw rod threaded into the screw holder and rotatable to move the screw holder relative to the vise body. When multiple vise bodies are mounted on the slide holder in parallel, they are micro-adjustable to hold a workpiece or multiple workpieces precisely in position.

  • Patent number: 7857296
Abstract: A hinge positioning apparatus includes a base, a first positioning unit, and a second positioning unit. The first positioning unit includes a load-supporting platform, a first locking mechanism, and a plurality of limiting blocks. The load-supporting platform is mounted on the base. The first locking mechanism is movable between a loose position and a locking position. The limiting blocks respectively mounted on the load-supporting platform and the first locking mechanism. The second positioning unit includes two coaxial supports and two second locking mechanism. The supports are mounted on the base adjacent the load-supporting platform, each defines a positioning groove in side surface facing the load-supporting platform. The second locking mechanism are mounted on the supports respectively, configured for maintaining hinges in the positioning grooves. The apparatus is used to position two hinges coaxially on an enclosure of a notebook computer.

  • Publication number: 20080067729
Abstract: A holding fixture is disclosed for machining bearing caps that have a generally semi-cylindrical bearing bore on an interior surface and bolt shoulders on opposite sides that are drilled to receive bolts. The holding fixture comprises a fixture frame to which a mandrel is attached that receives the bearing caps with the bearing bore centered relative to the mandrel. A plurality of clamps engage an exterior portion of the bearing caps to retain the bearing caps on the mandrel. A method of manufacturing a bearing cap is also disclosed using a fixture that has a mandrel that is received in the bearing bore and clamps that engage the outer surface of the bearing caps. A pair of bolt shoulders of the bearing caps are machined and a bolt hole is drilled in each of the bolt shoulder portions. The bearing bores are subsequently machined with the bearing caps being located based upon the location of the bolt holes to form a plurality of finished bearing caps.

  • Patent number: 6681465
Abstract: An apparatus for reeving and spacing deadeyes and sheaves for model sailing ships. The apparatus has a base for support, a spacing block that is used for measuring off a set distance between the deadeyes and sheaves being reeved and a pair of clamping jaws to hold a plurality of deadeyes and sheaves in place while being reeved and threaded. The clamping jaws are set on the base and at the end of the spacing block. The spacing block is a raised plateau with incremental pre-measured sections and channels for providing a set of distances between the deadeyes and sheaves being reeved. The apparatus also has a secondary spacing block to increase the distance between the incremental pre-measured sections and channels of the provided spacing block.

  • Patent number: 6182549
Abstract: Apparatus for securing flat articles to be cut, includes, in one embodiment, a base and a clamp bar coupled to the base by actuators. The actuators are slideably moveable to actuate the clamp bar between a clamping position near the base and an open position away from the base. A flat article is positioned between the clamp bar and the base, and the actuators are moved to position the clamp bar into the clamping position, securing the flat article to the base in a desired position for cutting. In an alternate embodiment, an apparatus includes a biasing member operatively engaged with the clamp bar to urge the clamp bar away from or toward the base. In another alternate embodiment, an apparatus includes a swing arm slideably coupled with the clamp bar, the swing arm having a straight edge.

  • Patent number: 5020716
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and means for maintaining metal parts in fixed relation to each other throughout a brazing cycle. The fixed relation is maintained by supporting the parts on concentric support rings made of the same alloy as the parts. The support rings lie within backup rings which exhibit high creep strength at the temperature necessary to braze the parts. The backup rings are slideably supported on a base, and a cover is provided which cooperates with the base to prevent furnace contaminants from contacting the parts during the brazing cycle.
