  • Patent number: 4826146
Abstract: A hydraulic clamp for dies of injection molding machines, workpieces of machine tools such as press machines and the like.In the front part of its housing a clamp arm is installed to be longitudinally movable and vertically pivotable and a hydraulic cylinder in the rear part thereof, and there is formed in at least either of a piston rod and the clamp arm a longitudinally extending hole for accommodating a clamp arm pushing spring. An engaging means is provided for engaging the clamp arm with the piston rod at substantially same level with the clamp arm pushing spring. • Patent number: 4819921
Abstract: A vice has a base fixed to the worktable of a machine, a slider slidable on the base and a fixing-releasing mechanism for selectively fixing the slider to the base and releasing the slider from the base. The fixing-releasing mechanism is provided with an actuator extending through a large hole formed in the base and engageable with the base and the slider. When not applied by pressurized fluid, the actuator fixes the slider to the base, and when applied by the fluid, it releases the slider from the base for the positional adjustment of the slider. The vice also has a piston-cylinder assembly composed of a cylinder tube and a piston assembly slidable in the cylinder tube and surrounding a lead screw in a telescopic manner. When applied by pressurized fluid, the piston assembly as well as the lead screw advances to move a movable clamp element on the slider towards a stationary clamp element fixed on the slider, for clamping a work between both the clamp elements.

  • Patent number: 4721293
Abstract: A self-locking, fluid-operated, tool clamping device is disclosed. The device provides a double-acting piston formed with a camming surface intermediate its ends. The camming surface is formed with a locking angle with respect to the axis of the piston. A cylindrical clamping pin is guided within the device for movement in a direction perpendicular to the camming surface and is provided with an end surface perpendicular to such direction of movement which engages the camming surface. • Patent number: 4504046
Abstract: A retracting clamp for dies or workpieces, especially for the die of the injection molding machine, whose clamp arm is installed in the chamber of the clamp housing so as to shift its position between an extended position and retracted position. The clamp arm is driven with a wedge connected to the piston-rod of the hydraulic cylinder. A spring enables clamp arm to hold the clamping force in case of hydraulic oil leakage. There is also provided means for retracting the wedge without failure and means for detecting the positions of the clamp arm.

  • Patent number: 4494739
Abstract: A clamping assembly is operated by a piston and cylinder assembly rotatably mounted on a support. A mounting bracket rotatably mounted on the support is provided with a pair of pivotally mounted plates each having a clamping arm and a cam track. The mounting bracket includes an annular shoulder engaging the support; a flange draws the shoulder against the support, thereby selectively locking the bracket and the piston and cylinder against rotation in any of a plurality of rotational positions. A drive rod connected to the piston extends through the support and into an elongate slot in the bracket. A pair of rollers secured to the outer end of the rod are disposed in the cam slots and drive the plates to pivot. The cam slots are specially configured to lock the clamp in a locking position in the event that fluid pressure is lost in the piston.

  • Patent number: 4492368
Abstract: Apparatus for applying force in one direction to an article and restraining movement of the article in the opposite direction. There is provided a reciprocally rotatable link and means to rotate the link connected to a first end of the link and a cam shaft having a first and second cylindrical portion, said first cylindrical portion having a different central axis of rotation than the second cylindrical portion. The first cylindrical portion of the cam shaft is secured to the end of the link opposite the end connected to the rotating means to provide rotational movement of the cam shaft when the link is rotated. A mounting block with a bore therethrough has the first cylindrical portion of the cam shaft passing through the bore. A rotating member pivotal at one end and movable from a first position to a second position has the second cylindrical portion of the cam shaft rotatably secured thereto at the end opposite from the pivotal end.

Abstract: Objects of different sizes and shapes are gripped in a monostable manner by an apparatus which has a single pneumatic power source and has interchangeable jaw assemblies attached to an operating mechanism that provides a linear motion to engage the object. The gripping jaws are selected from a set of three basic types of generic jaws, i.e., nose-shaped jaws and vee-shaped jaws for curved surfaces, and rest button jaws for flat surfaces. Various turbine blades, for instance, are grasped by the airfoil and root using different combinations of these jaw types and have a predictable location relative to the gripping device.
