The lift includes a main support movable upwardly and downwardly on a column, a subsupport adapted to be rotated to and held in various angular positions relative to the main support, and side-by-side tubes on the subsupport for telescopically receiving bars for supporting the mower or other machine during servicing. The supporting bars extend in opposite directions from the side-by-side tubes and may be laterally adjusted relative to the tubes to match the width of the machine being serviced. Supporting bars for other types of machines may be inserted into the tubes, and the main support and the subsupport may be vice-mounted rather than column-mounted.

    Abstract: A machine tool subassembly that holds a workpiece at a predetermined position within the operating area of a machining apparatus is attached to a presetting stand outside of the machine for purposes of aligning a workpiece during the time the machine is operating on another workpiece. The presetting stand is attached to a rail on the flat top surface of a support table. The stand and rail have mating reference surfaces that correspond to the orthogonal axis of the machine. The stand includes upper and lower joint parts which engage an adjustment part of the subassembly. The joint parts include reference surfaces aligned with the machine axis so that when the subassembly engages one of the joint parts, the workpiece secured therein my be aligned along two of the three orthogonal axis of the machine. When the subassembly is connected to the second joint part, it will be aligned precisely ninety degrees to the first joint part.

The fastener is used to provide positive location and fastening of the risers to the base cube.     Abstract: A work holder is provided which comprises a work surface having a pattern of apertures across its entire surface. The apertures allow a conventional clamp to secure any work piece to the work surface at any point on the surface. The apertures are circular in shape and of a dimension such that a conventional clamp will not slip from the board. Radially extended flutes are connected to the circular apertures to allow the clamps to be fully extended across a work piece and be essentially locked to the work surface. Half apertures at the edges of the work surface allow the work surfaces to interlock with one another. The interlocking half apertures in combination with their radial flutes allow the work surface to be set up in a wide variety of configurations.

    Abstract: A slide bar clamp having a straight surface on an elongated base that can serve as a straight edge. The base includes a longitudinal channel in which a rod is suspended. A first clamp surface is fixed at one end of the base. A moveable lock and clamp structure is mounted for longitudinal movement within the channel back and forth along the rod. The lock and clamp structure is formed in a housing. A handle is rotatably mounted on the housing. The handle locks by forcing an increasingly widened portion against a plurality of lock plates. The lock plates are arranged face-to-face and each has a hole through which the rod is inserted. In the locked position, the lock plates are tilted such that the inner edges of their holes grab the rod to prevent movement of the lock and clamp structure away from the fixed clamp surface. The slide bar clamp has a flat surface which permits mounting of the slide bar clamp on an adjacent flat surface or the back of an adjacent clamp.

    Abstract: A work holder is provided for modifying an automatic transmission such that clutch pistons within the automatic transmission receive a unidirectional valve therethrough rather than the associated clutch drum as is typically the case. The work holder includes a base with a horizontal upper surface having a central disk which is sized to fit and retain one clutch piston to the base when the central disk is in one orientation and another clutch piston when the central disk is in another orientation. With the clutch piston securely attached to the work holder, a drill bit guide mounted on the work holder directs a stepped drill bit so that it may bore a hole through the clutch piston for passage of hydraulic fluid therethrough. Two drill bit guides are provided, one for each clutch piston, which each direct one of two of the drill bits to the appropriate location. Once the holes are drilled in each clutch piston a check ball and seat combination are located within each hole thus made.
